26V019000 · Electrical System: Instrument Cluster/Panel
Reported: 2026-01-16 (January 16, 2026)
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain Genesis 2025-2026 G80, GV80, 2026 G80 "Electrified," GV60, GV70 "Electrified" and GV70 vehicles. Due to a software error, the instrument panel display may fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Controls and Displays."
Consequence: An instrument panel display that fails to show critical safety information, such as the speedometer or fuel gauge, increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Owners are advised to disable the high definition (HD) radio feature until the recall remedy has been performed. The audio video navigation software will be updated over-the-air (OTA) or inspected and updated by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning February 17, 2026. Owners may contact Genesis customer service at 844-340-9741. Hyundai's number for this recall is 031G. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning January 17, 2026.

| Electrical System | 3255.2%ODI 11517383We drove ten miles to a local restaurant and after our meal the vehicle reported a 12-volt battery issue. After about a mile the car started to pull the car over as the battery was falling. As we were looking for a safe location to pull over, the car would no longer accelerate and would maintain 20 mph on a road that was 50 mph speed limit causing a very unsafe condition. We eventually found a safe location to pull over the car and had the car towed. | 857.1%ODI 11629412The instrument cluster does not illuminate when car starts. This happens periodically and randomly and there are numerous reports of this on the internet. Surprised this has not been reported here previously. | 240.0%ODI 11656777The 12 volt battery on the EV car has gone dead twice since I took delivery on the new car in January 2025. When that happens the car is completely dead and must be manually accessed to open the hood and jump start the car. The first time the car would function once jump started. The second time the car would not stay "running" and the battery had to be recharged for the car to function. This problem seems to be the same as the issue that prompted the recall of this car and others in the fall of 2024. It appears that the problem was not corr… | 0UnavailableNo examples available for this selection. |

When I moved the gear shift into reverse and lifted my foot from the pedal, the car surged more than expected and the left mirror hit the cement pillar. The dealership advised me to open a claim with a manufacturer so they could review the other ongoing issues as well as the acceleration that caused the accident. A 3rd party engineer reviewed the "black box" and said there was no acceleration issues and the manufacturer is not liable. | Structure:Body | 11.7%ODI 11686807The chrome trim strip above the windshield flew off while driving. This poses a safety hazard for anyone driving behind a GV60 and unfortunately this issue seems to be very widespread (examples: [XXX] ). Genesis refused to fix the issue for me despite being under warranty, so I suspect they are doing the same for other owners despite the safety risk. Because this trim piece is at the top of the windshield, and out of the view of the driver, I am uncertain exactly when it came off, but I believe it came off while at freeway speed, and that is why I do not have, or know, the location of the missing trim. Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
