Owner report 11467310 · 2022-06-03 (June 3, 2022)

The cruise control does not down-shift the vehicle early enough. it does not react for the first 6mph over set point and then when it downshifts it only downshifts one gear. The vehicle exceeded 10mph over set point on a 6% grade and brakes had to be engaged because manual limit did not perform as intended at the moment. This might have been ok in the 90s but all other cars I had handled this much better in last 15 years. The lane keep assist attempts to drive the car into oncoming traffic when there are road patches present in the lane.

Several times the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) was activated unnecessarily. Twice were at a 4-way stop. I was turning left with a stationary car (#1) across the intersection waiting to proceed next. As I got part of the way through the turn, the AEB reacked to the car (#1) and engaged. Slowing my car and almost brought it to a full stop in the middle of the intersection. I now drive the car with AEB disabled.

I scheduled service at my GMC dealership but had to wait two weeks for an appointment. This is about my brand new Acadia. One of the seatbelt locks of the second row is missing. I did report the issue to the GMC local dealer and they’re to replace the missing lock, however, I was expecting to get GMC to take immediate action as this is a major safety concern. I have received no communication back from them yet. I’ve got the vehicle in Tijuana Mexico and typically drive it in both California USA and Baja California Mexico.

Recall history

3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

21V702000 · Air Bags: Air Bag/Restraint Control Module | Air Bags

Reported: 2021-09-10 (September 10, 2021)

General Motors, LLC. (GM) is recalling certain 2022 GMC Acadia vehicles. The sensing diagnostic module (SDM) may have been left in "manufacturing mode" and not activated at the assembly plant prior to shipment. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Consequence: The air bags will not deploy with an unactivated SDM, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Remedy: The vehicles will be returned to the assembly plant for SDM activation. Both affected vehicles are still in dealer inventory and therefore no owner notification letters will be mailed. Owners may contact GMC 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N212344261.

Reported: 2022-06-16 (June 16, 2022)

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2022 Cadillac XT5, XT6, and GMC Acadia vehicles. The left-rear suspension toe link may have been tightened improperly, which could result in a loose or separated toe link.

Consequence: A loose toe link can separate and cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect the left-rear suspension and replace the fastener if it is loose or missing, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 11, 2022. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N222364330.

Reported: 2022-06-23 (June 23, 2022)

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2022 Cadillac XT5, XT6, and GMC Acadia All-Wheel Drive (AWD) vehicles. The fuel tank rollover valve may not provide a proper seal in the event of a rollover crash.

Consequence: A fuel tank rollover valve that does not properly seal can result in a fuel leak during a rollover crash, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect the fuel tank and replace the fuel tank shell if the rollover valve is found to be dislodged or missing, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 27, 2022. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N222366070.

THE 2017 GMC ACADIA HORN TAKES AN UNREASONABLE AMOUNT OF FORCE TO ENGAGE. THIS HAS BEEN NOTED BY SEVERAL USERS. MY SPOUSE HAD A SEMI TRUCK COME INTO HER LANE A DAY AGO AND COULD NOT GET HORN TO SOUND TO WARN OTHER DRIVER. GMC DEALERSHIP INVESTIGATED AND SAID ITS JUST THE WAY THE ASSEMBLY WORKS IN THIS MODEL. The ACADIA 2020 while in slow motion approaching my private condominium parking spot, accelerated autonomously and then slammed into the cement wall. Airbags deployed, no warning of collision, seriously damaged both car and cement wall. No bodily injuries. I researched the possible cause coded P2138 which involves the drive by wire sensors which connect the throttle pedal and the CPU that controls the mechanical throttle gas system. That might be the cause of the autonomous acceleration like explained about the P2138 sensors issues.

The Fuel Pump Control Module failed. It happened when the car was parked. The car would crank, but would not start. We were stranded far from where we live. It was hot and we had to be towed to a GM Dealership. This part could have failed on the hi-way with awful results. The Dealership verified the defective part. We have the old part as needed. Lots of lights flashed and went out. The Engine Light stayed on. The Gas Gauge was not reporting the correct amount of gas in the tank, but seemed to correct itself before the part failed..

I have had multiple sensor issues with my Acadia since reaching 60000 miles. Currently, there is a thermostat sensor causing hard shifting, No cold air blowing from the AC, stabilitrack, traction control, steering assist reduced and fan running after turning off. I would not report it but I am in a facebook group where MULTIPLE people are reporting having the same issue in their Acadia's.
