Owner report 11484021 · 2022-09-12 (September 12, 2022)

Sudden loss of coolant while driving, without any prior warning lights. In my opinion that is unacceptable in a car with a little over 30k miles. F-Type forums all over the world would indicate this is a relatively common issue with some of the pipes under the supercharger being the suspected issue. Enough of an issue that I believe Jaguar redesigned those parts for newer model years, however there is no TSB for older cars at the moment. The current "solution" is owners updating the part themselves or having a shop/dealer replace the whole cool…

Recall history

3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

14V673000 · Electrical System:Alternator/Generator/Regulator | Engine And Engine Cooling:Engine:Gasoline:Belts And Associated Pulleys

Reported: 2014-10-27 (October 27, 2014)

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Jaguar) is recalling certain 2015 F-TYPE vehicles manufactured August 25, 2014, to September 12, 2014, 2015 XF vehicles manufactured September 3, 2014, to September 12, 2014, and 2015 XJ vehicles manufactured August 21, 2014, to September 11, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the Front End Accessory Drive (FEAD) belt, Power Assisted Steering (PAS) pump pulley and/or battery positive cable at the alternator may detach.

Consequence: If the battery positive cable loosens, an electrical short may result, increasing the risk of a fire. If the FEAD belt looses or detaches, the vehicle may lose power assisted steering, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Jaguar has notified owners, and dealers will inspect the affected engine mounted components for the proper threading and torque, correcting them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began November 10, 2014. Owners may contact Jaguar customer service at 1-800-452-4827. Jaguar's number for this recall is J044.

NHTSA campaign record ↗
14V714000 · Electrical System:Wiring

Reported: 2014-11-07 (November 7, 2014)

Jaguar Land Rover North America LLC (Jaguar) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 F-TYPE vehicles manufactured August 31, 2012, to October 22, 2014. In the affected vehicles the seatbelt harness connector which connects the Seatbelt Tension Sensor (STS) to the Occupant Classification Sensor Control Module (OCSCM) may not have been correctly wired. The OCSCM senses whether there is an occupant in the front passenger seating position, and the STS senses whether tension on the seatbelt indicates a child restraint is being used in the front passenger seating position. Both sensors provide information to the restraint control module (RCM) which informs whether the front passenger airbag should be activated, depending on whether the sensors detect the seat is occupied and/or that it is occupied by an adult passenger.

Consequence: Should the STS not have been wired correctly, the front passenger air bag may not be suppressed, and may remain activated, even when a child restraint is placed in the front passenger seat or a small statured adult occupies that seat. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the front passenger air bag, a child or small stature occupant may be at an increased risk of injury.

Remedy: Jaguar will notify owners, and dealers will correct the harness connector wire configuration, free of charge. The recall began on December 3, 2014. Owners may contact Jaguar customer service at 1-800-452-4827. Jaguar's number for this recall is J047.

NHTSA campaign record ↗
19V326000 · Air Bags:Sensor:Occupant Classification | Seat Belts | Electrical System:Wiring

Reported: 2019-04-25 (April 25, 2019)

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Jaguar Land Rover) is recalling certain 2014-2015 Jaguar F-TYPE vehicles previously remedied under Recall 14V-714. The seatbelt harness connector which connects the Seatbelt Tension Sensor (STS) to the Occupant Classification Sensor Control Module (OCSCM) may not have been correctly wired. As a result, the Restraint Control Module (RCM) may not accurately detect if an adult or child is occupying the seat.

Consequence: In the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment, an incorrect classification may result in the passenger frontal air bag deploying even if there is a child in the front passenger seat, increasing their risk of injury.

Remedy: Jaguar will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the seat belt assembly and repair the seatbelt tension sensor harness as necessary, free of charge. The recall began June 3, 2019. Owners may contact Jaguar customer service at 1-800-452-4827. Jaguar's number for this recall is H208.

Also sometimes when the engine is on and in the park position ; the engine may turn off. The drivers side headlight directional is slowly failing due to the design of it from the factory and it will soon be nonfunctional. 2020 Jaguar F-Type daytime running light (DRL) or driving light failure is usually caused by an internal design flaw where heat from the LED system melts the plastic light-guide rod. Because the DRL also serves as the amber turn signal, the melting can also cause the indicator strip to flash dimly or fail altogether and have no turn signal. This is a very well known problem on these vehicles and it is cleaarly a s…

WHEN CHANGING LANES @ APP. 45MPH, THE CAR INITIALLY FELT AS IF IT WOULD ROLL OVER. THE CAR THEN SWERVED RIGHT AND LEFT , NEARLY PUSHING ME INTO THE TRAFFIC IN THE NEXT LANE. STEERING WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL, REQUIRING MY FULL STRENGTH. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, THE CAR STRAIGHTENED AND STEERING EFFORT RETURNED TO NORMAL.THIS OCCURRED ON A SMOOTH, 4-LANE ROAD WHICH WAS DRY. JAGUAR SERVICE PERSONNEL WERE AWARE OF SIMILAR ISSUES BUT COLD NOT IDENTIFY A CAUSE.

Unexpectedly, The power steering went out on my 2020 Jaguar F-Type while driving. The power steering assistance reduced light came on in my dashboard. I'm being told by Hennessy Jaguar in Atlanta that even though my car has a little over 30k miles VIN # [XXX] , it's going to need a new Power Steering Rack. The cost for this repair is going to be over 6k. This is not acceptable, and this repair or replacement should not be necessary so soon as the life expectancy is much longer than 5 years.  I am reaching out for help since being unsuccesful f…

MOST ALL INTERNAL BUTTONS AND SWITCHES INCLUDING THE STEERING WHEEL, DASH AND DOOR SWITCHES ARE FAILING. SWITCHES AND BUTTONS ALMOST FEEL LIKE THEY ARE MELTING. THE STICKY RESIDUE MAKES THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS UNRELIABLE INCLUDING TURNING ON/OFF THE VEHICLE, SAFETY WARNING SYSTEMS, WINDOWS, CRUISE CONTROL, LANE ASSIST, ETC. ADDITIONALLY, THE GOEY BUTTONS ON THE CENTER CONSOLE CREATE THE SAME CONCERN FOR OTHER CRITICAL FUNCTIONS OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AMONG OWNERS AND JAGUAR HAS NOT OFFERED A REASONABLE REMEDY. ONE OWNER WHO…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
