Recall history

2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

16V748000 · Tires

Reported: 2016-10-17 (October 17, 2016)

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain model year 2017 Jay Sport camping trailers manufactured March 31, 2016, to September 30, 2016 and equipped with the Baja Option. The inside walls of the tires on the affected vehicles may rub against the wheel wells, possibly resulting in a tire blowout.

Consequence: A tire blowout may increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will replace the axle and wheel wells and labels, free of charge. The recall began on November 10, 2016. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901326.

16V785000 · Equipment:Other:Labels

Reported: 2016-10-27 (October 27, 2016)

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain model year 2017 Jay Sport camping trailers, model 12SC, manufactured September 14, 2016, to October 3, 2016. The labels on the affected vehicles incorrectly state that the vehicle is equipped with ST175/80R13D tires requiring 65 PSI, when the vehicle is actually equipped with ST175/80R13C tires requiring 50 PSI. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

Consequence: Incorrect tire pressure information may result in the tires being over inflated, which can cause possible tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Jayco has notified owners and provided them with a corrected label, free of charge. The recall began on November 1, 2016. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901331.

ON MAY 4, 2018, I BOUGHT 3 EACH CARLISLE RADIAL TRAIL RH TRAILER TIRES IN SIZE ST235/85R16 LOAD RANGE F FOR MY JAYCO EAGLE 323LKTS RV. I BOUGHT A FOURTH JUST BEFORE THAT DATE. IN OCTOBER 2019, ONE FAILED CATASTROPHICALLY ON LEVEL, PAVED ROAD AT 65MPH WITH APPROXIMATELY 5000 MILES ON IT. THE ENTIRE TREAD, BELTS AND INTERNAL STRUCTURE SEPARATED, LEAVING ONLY THE SIDEWALLS BEHIND. I HAD VISUALLY INSPECTED ALL TIRES FOR PROPER INFLATION AND DEFECTS JUST 3 MILES BEFORE THE FAILURE. ON JUN 8, 2020, A SECOND TIRE FAILED CATASTROPHICALLY. T…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
