Recall history

2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

07V118000 · Structure

Reported: 2007-03-20 (March 20, 2007)

ON CERTAIN TRAVEL AND FIFTH WHEEL TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH HICKORY SPRINGS 'BIG EASY TRIPLE STEPS,' AN IMPROPER ENGAGEMENT OF THE BOTTOM STEP PIVOT ARM WITH THE FORMED STOP EDGE OF THE MIDDLE STEP SUPPORT BRACKET CAN RESULT IN THE BOTTOM STEP ROTATING TO AN UNSAFE DOWNWARD ANGLE.

Consequence: A PERSON COULD BE INJURED SHOULD THE STEP GIVE WAY WHILE BEING USED TO ENTER OR EXIT THE TRAILER.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE TRAILERS FOR THE MANUFACTURING DATE STICKER TO VERIFY THE DATE OF PRODUCTION OF THE STEP AND, IF NECESSARY, WILL WELD STOCK TO EACH SIDE OF THE LOWER (TRIPLE) STEP STOP EDGES. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 30, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT JAYCO AT 1-800-283-8267.

Reported: 2007-04-27 (April 27, 2007)

CERTAIN FIFTH WHEEL TRAVEL TRAILERS FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 120, 'TIRE SELECTION AND RIMS FOR MOTOR VEHICLES OTHER THAN PASSENGER CARS.' THE FEDERAL IDENTIFICATION LABEL CONTAINS THE INCORRECT TIRE LOAD RANGE AND INFLATION PRESSURES.

Consequence: THIS STANDARD SPECIFIES TIRE AND RIM SELECTION REQUIREMENTS AND RIM MARKING REQUIREMENTS.

Remedy: THE INCORRECT LABEL WILL BE REMOVED AND A NEW CORRECT LABEL WILL BE INSTALLED. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 15, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT JAYCO AT 1-800-283-8267.

The contact owns a 2010 Jayco Recon. The contact stated that after turning on the air conditioner, there was a smoke odor detected. The contact initially thought the smoke odor was from the air conditioner not being used for a long period. Smoke then filled the bathroom. The contact inspected the transfer switch on the bedroom wall and noticed that the transfer switch was charred. The RV was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that there was no recall a…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
