Many people have had issues with premature wear of the camshaft lobe and the valve followers due to the factory installed cam chain tensioner. The cam chain tensioner is almost a problem with any KTM Duke 790/890 or KTM Adventure 790/890. All of these bikes have issues with these specific problem within the first 10,000 miles. This cam chain tensioner failure can led to catastrophic engine failure leading to the engine being unrepairable and needing a completely new engine.

My cruise control would turn on but not engage. Upon investigation I discovered the brake light was not illuminating unless full brake pressure was applied. My KTM dealership diagnosed and replaced the brake light switch both times. My understanding this switch is a "pressure switch" Incident 2 - 9/2025 at 18,199 miles my cruise control would not disengage when ap…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
