Recall history
2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
22V005000 · Tires:Tread/Belt
Reported: 2022-01-07 (January 7, 2022)
Lakota Corporation (Lakota) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Bighorn, Charger, and Livestock trailers equipped with certain Sailun tires, size ST235/80R16/G. Due to a manufacturing issue, the tires may experience a belt separation.
Consequence: Belt separation could lead to loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the tires, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 10, 2022. Owners may contact Lakota customer service at 1-574-848-1636.
NHTSA campaign record ↗23V550000 · Suspension:Multiple Axle
Reported: 2023-08-03 (August 3, 2023)
Lakota Corporation (Lakota) is recalling certain 2020-2024 Bighorn and Charger Triple Axle 5&6 horse trailers. The main rails of the axle carrier may have been manufactured with an insufficient gauge steel, which can cause the carrier to break.
Consequence: A broken axle carrier can cause the axles and tires to fail, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Owners are advised not to use their trailer until the remedy has been completed. Dealers will install gussets and additional tubes, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 1, 2023. Owners may contact Lakota customer service at 1-574-848-1636.

LOOKED VERY NEW, AND TIRES SHOWED LITTLE SIGN OF WEAR, WHICH MATCHED THE OWNERS DESCRIPTION OF HAVING LOW MILEAGE. HOWEVER, ON TRIP OUT WEST A TIRE ON THE LEFT SIDE BEGAN TO COME APART AFTER ONLY 200 MILES. THIS HAPPENED ON THE INTERSTATE, SO WE WERE GOING ~ 70 MPH. WE STOPPED WHEN WE HEARD THE THUMPING AND PUT ON THE SPARE. BUT AFTER ANOTHER 200 MILES THE SPARE BLEW OUT TOO. THE TIRE WAS COMPLETELY SHREDDED THIS TIME. THE OTHER THREE TIRES MADE IT FOR THE NEXT 4000 MILES. | 0UnavailableNo examples available for this selection. | 0UnavailableNo examples available for this selection. | 0UnavailableNo examples available for this selection. | 0UnavailableNo examples available for this selection. | 0UnavailableNo examples available for this selection. | 0UnavailableNo examples available for this selection. | 0UnavailableNo examples available for this selection. | 0UnavailableNo examples available for this selection. |

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2022: 0 complaints · 2023: 0 complaints

| 2022 | 0 | 0 | 0 |

Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2022 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2023 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
