Recall history
3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
77V161000 · Vehicle Speed Control
Reported: 1977-09-23 (September 23, 1977)
SOME OF THE INVOLVED VEHICLES MAY HAVE DEFECTIVE CARBURETORS IN WHICH, UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES, THE SECONDARY THROTTLE PLATES MAY STICK OPEN.
Remedy: DEALER WILL INSPECT AND, IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THE CARBURETOR AT NO CHARGE TO OWNER.
NHTSA campaign record ↗77V185000 · Power Train:Automatic Transmission:Lever And Linkage:Column Shift
Reported: 1977-10-25 (October 25, 1977)
ON THE INVOLVED VEHICLES, THE PARK ACTUATION SUPPORT PLATES ARE DEFECTIVE DUE TO THEIR SUSCEPTIBILITY TO CRACKING DUE TO IMPROPER HEAT TREATMENT DURING MANUFACTURE. AS A RESULT, FRAGMENTS FROM A BROKEN PLATE CAN BECOME LODGED IN THE TRANSMISSION PARKING PAWL MECHANISM. THIS COULD PREVENT THE TRANSMISSION PARKING PAWL FROM ENGAGING WHEN THE SELECTOR LEVER IS PLACED IN THE "PARK" POSITION, OR PREVENT THE PAWL FROM BEING DISENGAGED FROM THE PARK GEAR.
Remedy: THE DEALER WILL REPLACE THE PARK ACTUATION CAM SUPPORT PLATES, FREE OF CHARGE, ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES.
NHTSA campaign record ↗79V249000 · Structure:Body:Bumpers
Reported: 1979-11-16 (November 16, 1979)
THE INVOLVED VEHICLES WERE BUILT WITH AN ALUMINUM REAR BUMPER REINFORCEMENT ATTACHED TO TWO STEEL MOUNTING SURFACES. IN CLIMATES WHERE LARGE AMOUNTS OF ROCK SALT ARE USED, THE ALUMINUM REINFORCEMENT COULD EXPERIENCE CORROSION WHERE IT ATTACHES TO THE VEHICLE.
Remedy: DEALER WILL INSPECT ALL INVOLVED VEHICLES FOR DEGREE OF CORROSION. WHERE CORROSION IS SEVERE, THE ALUMINUM REINFORCEMENT WILL BE REPLACED WITH ONE MADE OF STEEL. WHERE CORROSION IS NOT SEVERE, DEALER WILL INSTALL INSULATION MATERIALS BETWEEN THE ALUMINUM AND THE STEEL COMPONENTS. THIS WILL BE DONE AT NO COST TO OWNER.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
1984: 0 complaints · 1985: 0 complaints
| Model year | Through age 0 | Through age 1 | Through age 2 |

| 1984 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 1985 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1984 | 1 | 0 | 0 |
| 1985 | 0 | 1 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
