Owner report 11505594 · 2023-02-04 (February 4, 2023)

Car randomly goes into neutral despite being in D drive mode. Often at stop light, after the light turns green, the car revs up but is not in gear despite in 'D' drive. I have to shift to park or turn car off then on to get it to go again. This has happens multiple times since new. This is very random and distressing when it happens. Car has been evaluated multiple times at the dealership. There are no trouble codes thrown. The car otherwise works and has no other problem. The technician (off the record) told me there is a known issue when he…

Owner report 11527655 · 2023-06-19 (June 19, 2023)

This has happened a couple of times to me so far. I have been driving down the road (today it was the highway) and my car fell out of gear into neutral and would not go back into gear unless I restarted the car. Every time it has happened, I have had to coast it to a safe spot to restart the car to get it back into gear. Not having power and needing to coast it to safety is a risk to others because I have no control to get myself to safety in some situations. No dealer has been able to reproduce it because of how infrequently it happens. It has…

The car will randomly go into a neutral condition while driving the car. This occurs about once per month, sometimes more often. I will come to a stop for a light or stop sign, upon green light I release the brakes and then gas only to find the engine free revving and the car will not move. I must place the car in Park and then Drive again in order for it to move forward. I have brought this up with Mercedes multiple times and eventually had the transmission replaced. 2 days later, the same thing happened. They do not have a repair available …

My vehicle developed a coolant warning during normal road use. I had not experienced any known collision, crash, or unusual impact. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer for inspection. The dealer diagnosed the problem as: “Front low-temperature cooler replacement – impact damage causing leak.” The repair estimate was approximately $2,385. The failed component is the front low-temperature cooler located directly behind the lower front grille. Based on the location and design, the cooler appears to have limited protection…

The vehicle exhibits an intermittent, severe electronic-hydraulic transmission control defect where it completely rejects gear shifts from Park (P) to Drive (D), or forcefully defaults back into Park upon operation. The servicing dealership's diagnostic tear-down confirmed an internal failure of the mechatronic valve body and the integrated park solenoid at only 62,141 miles. Car stops accelerating and shifts into neutral without warning I nearly got hit from behind. I have consulted several other Mercedes vehicle owners and all had the same issue. Two of the other owners stated that this happened on the interstate and was very lucky they were not involved in a collision. Both vehicles were GLC 300. Mercedes does not seem to have an answer to the issue and all previous owners traded vehicles for fear of dying.

This posed a serious safety risk to me and others on the road. There were no prior warning lights, messages, or symptoms before the failure occurred. That recall covers my exact year, make, and model, yet my specific VIN h…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
