I DISCOVERED FROM THE NHTSA WEBSITE THAT MY VEHICLE HAS AN OPEN RECALL ON THE PASSENGER-SIDE FRONTAL AIRBAG. THE REMEDY SHOWN ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE IS FOR AN AUTHORIZED MERCEDES-BENZ DEALER TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG. TWO M-B DEALERS HAVE TOLD ME THAT THE REMEDY IS NOT YET AVAILABLE. I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR MORE THAN 5 YEARS, AND I SUSPECT THIS DEFECT HAS BEEN KNOWN BY MERCEDES-BENZ FOR MOST OF THIS TIME. IT IS TIME FOR THEM TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. I DO NOT LIKE FOR MY WIFE TO RIDE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WITH AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT THREATEN…

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
