Recall history

11 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

14V598000 · Steering

Reported: 2014-09-26 (September 26, 2014)

Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain model year 2015 C300 4Matic and C400 4Matic vehicles manufactured March 28, 2014, to September 18, 2014. If the steering coupling interlock mechanism is not locked in place, the sliding shaft, which is part of the steering column, could become disengaged from the steering coupling socket due to vibrations, steering thrust, or load feedback from the road surface.

Consequence: If the sliding shaft becomes disengaged from the steering coupling socket, the driver may experience noises, steering backlash, and in a worst case, loss of steering control, which may increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: MBUSA has notified owners, and dealers will inspect the steering coupling interlock mechanism to verify that it is in the locked position, free of charge. The recall began on October 1, 2014. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2014090008.

15V087000 · Exterior Lighting:Headlights

Reported: 2015-02-11 (February 11, 2015)

Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain model year 2015 C300 and C400 vehicles manufactured from June 18, 2014, through September 5, 2014, that fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." The affected vehicles were assembled with horizontal adjustment mechanisms that allow the owner to change the horizontal adjustment used during the manufacturing process, instead of the proper sealing caps.

Consequence: If the original horizontal adjustment is used to alter the low beam aim, the misaimed headlamp may not properly illuminated the road or cause increased glare to oncoming drivers, which increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners, and dealers will replace the horizontal adjustment mechanisms on the headlamps with sealing caps on the affected vehicles. The recall began May 23, 2016. Owners may contact Mercedes at 1-800-367-6372.

15V138000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Delivery:Fuel Pump

Reported: 2015-03-10 (March 10, 2015)

Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain model year 2015 C300 4matic and C400 4matic vehicles manufactured April 7, 2014, to July 25, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the fuel delivery module may be improperly secured to the fuel tank. Secondly, electrical wires that connect to the fuel delivery module might have been pinched between the flange of the fuel delivery module and the tank.

Consequence: If the locking plate is not properly secured to the fuel delivery module it may become loose, and leak fuel, increasing the risk of a fire. If the electrical wires are pinched, the fuel pump may stop working, resulting in a stall, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles for improperly secured locking plates and pinched wires, correcting the vehicles as necessary, free of charge. The recal began on April 24, 2015. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2015030004.

Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain model year 2015 C300 and C400 4matic sedans manufactured January 27, 2014, to December 1, 2014. Due to an error in the electric power steering control unit software, the affected vehicles may have a loss of electric power steering assist.

Consequence: If the vehicle experiences a loss of power steering assist, extra steering effort will be required, especially at lower speeds, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Remedy: MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will update the power steering software, free of charge. The recall began in January 15, 2016. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.

In the event that the engine or transmission cannot turn over, the starting current limiter may overheat from the repeated attempts of the starter motor attempting to start the vehicle.

Consequence: If the starting current limiter overheats, the surrounding components can melt, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy: MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will install an additional fuse in the electrical line to the starter, free of charge. The recall began August 31, 2017. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2017080002.

While driving on the hwy I heard a loud noise, a couple minutes later I hit the brakes to slow down to get off my exit and after pressing the brakes the car instantly fishtailed sending me sideways across 2 lanes of traffic. Luckily no one was injured or killed. I’ve seen that the car manufacturer was replacing this issue on models 2008-2015. My vehicle is a 2015 and they are telling me my vehicle is not covered for the issue. The car is not drivable and Mercedes needs to be held accountable. A critical comp…

When driving I accelerated and then the engine light turned on. after that the car was jolty and turned off completely when stopped. had to force a restart at the light. code that came back was p052E. This is a major and common issue with these cars. part is 400+ dollars. labor is much more since this is a 6 hour job. the work to replace this part is incredibly intensive that makes it impossible for regular car owners to change. Mercedes refuses to recognizes this as a common issue. but the truth is they designed a faulty system that they claim…

DONT KNOW WHICH CATEGORY IT FALLS. I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN AUGUST 2015. IN ONE WEEK IT WOULD NOT START EVEN. TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID, THE GROUNDING SCREW WAS LOOSE. I AM SO SURPRISED THAT A CAR COMES OUT FROM FACTORY WITH A LOOSE GROUNDING ISSUE. IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS, THE CAR JUST STALLED AT THE SIGNAL. ALL LIGHTS CAME UP. I HAD THE ECO START/STOP MODE ON. THIS HAPPENED 3 TIMES AND FINALLY I SHUT THE ECO START/STOP MODE DOWN. IT IS SO DANGEROUS THAT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, WHEN PEOPLE ARE READY TO DRIVE ON CHANGE OF SIGNAL, THE CAR WONT MOVE, …

THE 7 SPEED TRANSMISSION SHIFTS VERY HARD FROM 1 GEAR TO 2 GEAR TO 3 GEAR. FROM 3 GEAR ALL THE WAY TO 7 GEAR IS VERY SMOOTH. ALSO THE SAME WAY AROUND WHEN YOU DOWNSHIFT FROM 3 GEAR TO 2 GEAR TO 1 GEAR. THE SLOWING DOWN IS VERY HARSH AND IT LOOKS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THAT THE CAR IS GOING TO A FULL STOP. ALL THE POWER AND SPEED CUT DOWN A FEW SECONDS BEFORE FULL STOP. I HAVE PERSONALLY TRIED TO DO THE RESET WITH KEY AND PEDAL TRICK BUT IT ONLY WORKS FOR A DAY OR TWO AND GOES RIGHT BACK TO THE ROUGH SHIFTING.

Car has 51,000 miles , no check engine light or any other warning light .driving in on the freeway at 70 mph when I hear a pop sound and my car loses power , I pushed on the gas and it started to shake violently and I panicked as the construction on the freeway was not allowing drivers a shoulder to pull over on . I was lucky enough to be driving at 2am and with the construction going on , drivers were already slowing down . My car also started blowing a thick white smoke through the back exhaust that could have made it harder to see that late …

My vehicle is a 2015 C300 AWD. One day I was driving on the highway and noticed white smoke coming out of the exhaust. The check engine light came on shortly after as I pulled over. Being that I was less than a mile from my house, I decided to go park the vehicle. I noticed that it was losing power and had problems going above 45mph. Since my vehicle had 99k miles. I took it to my indy mechanic that has worked on the vehicle since it has been out of warranty. When he diagnosed the vehicle, 48 codes came up. He suggested we change the spark pl…
