Recall history

4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

04V441000 · Engine And Engine Cooling:Engine:Diesel

Reported: 2004-09-13 (September 13, 2004)

ON CERTAIN MOTORHOMES EQUIPPED WITH CUMMINS ENGINES, OIL CAN LEAK INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT FROM A CRACK IN THE CUP PLUG.

Consequence: OIL LEAKAGE ON A HOT ENGINE CAN RESULT IN AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN INJURIES.

Remedy: CUMMINS IS CONDUCTING THE OWNER NOTIFICATION AND REMEDY FOR THIS CAMPAIGN. CUMMINS WILL INSTALL A STEEL CUP PLUG BOSS CAP TO ALL AFFECTED ENGINES. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT CUMMINS CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER AT 1-800-343-7357 OR MONACO AT 1-800-685-6545.

NHTSA campaign record ↗
04V476000 · Equipment:Recreational Vehicle/Trailer:Lpg Systems:Water Heater

Reported: 2004-10-01 (October 1, 2004)

ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES MANUFACTURED WITH OPTIONAL AQUA HOT HYDRONIC HEATERS, THE EXHAUST TERMINATION FOR THE HEATER WAS LOCATED UNDER THE BEDROOM SLIDE OUT, WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN PLACED BEYOND THE PERIPHERY OF THE VEHICLE.

Consequence: THIS MAKES IT POSSIBLE FOR FUMES TO ENTER THE COACH AND POSSIBLY ALLOW CARBON MONOXIDE FUMES TO VENT INTO THE MOTOR HOME, WHICH COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO THE PASSENGERS.

Remedy: FOR THE 2003 MOTOR HOMES, DEALERS WILL USE THE EXISTING PIPE FROM THE AQUA HOT HYDRONIC HEATER, AND REPAIR IT SO THAT THE END TERMINATION WILL BE TO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE MOTOR HOME. FOR THE 2004 AND 2005 MOTOR HOMES, DEALERS WILL ADD AN EXHAUST PIPE TO THE EXISTING EXHAUST SYSTEM FROM THE AQUA HOT HYDRONIC HEATER. THE ADDITIONAL PIPE WILL BE INSTALLED SO THAT THE END TERMINATION WILL ALSO BE TO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE MOTOR HOME. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 27, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT MONACO AT 1-800-685-6545.

NHTSA campaign record ↗
04V598000 · Equipment:Recreational Vehicle/Trailer:Lpg Systems:Water Heater

Reported: 2004-12-23 (December 23, 2004)

ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES, THE WATER HEATER EXHAUST ON THE CURVE SIDE WALL UNDER THE BACK SIDE OF THE KITCHEN SLIDEOUT ROOM BOX TERMINATES UNDER THE SLIDE BOX WHEN IN THE EXTENDED POSITION. THIS DESIGN COULD CREATE A RISK OF MIGRATION OF CARBON MONOXIDE INTO THE INTERIOR OF THE MOTOR HOME.

Consequence: EXPOSURE OF THE OCCUPANTS TO CARBON MONOXIDE COULD RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE WATER HEATER WITH A 16 GALLON ATWOOD UNIT THAT HAS A DIFFERENT EXHAUST TERMINATION. THE RECALL BEGAN MARCH 25, 2005. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT MONACO AT 1-800-685-6545.

NHTSA campaign record ↗
05V223000 · Equipment:Recreational Vehicle/Trailer:Lpg Systems:Water Heater

Reported: 2005-05-13 (May 13, 2005)

ON CERTAIN CLASS A MOTOR HOMES EQUIPPED WITH VEHICLE SYSTEMS' AQUA-HOT AND HYDRO-HOT WATER HEATERS, WHICH USE WEBASTO BURNER TUBES, THE BURNER TUBES DO NOT MEET SPECIFICATIONS AND COULD FAIL PREMATURELY.

Consequence: THE SURFACE TEMPERATURE OF THE EXHAUST TUBE EXITING FROM THE HEATER CAN INCREASE AND COULD POTENTIALLY IGNITE COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS IN OR AROUND THE VEHICLE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE COMBUSTION CHAMBERS (BURNER TUBES) WITH A NEW ONE FREE OF CHARGE. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MONACO AT 1-800-685-6545.

I HAVE A 2008 MONACO, ADMIRAL CLASS A MOTOR HOME ON A WORKHORSE CHASSIS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON THE UN-USED GASOLINE TANK FILL PORT. THIS PORT ALLOWS THE MANUFACTURER TO HAVE THE FILL PORT ON EITHER SIDE. THE UNUSED FILL PORT WAS SEALED OFF WITH A SHORT LENGTH OF RADIATOR HOSE, WHICH WILL FAIL IN THE PRESENCE OF GASOLINE, AND A METRIC HOSE PLUG. BOTH WERE SEALED WITH PIPE CLAMPS. AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK IN TUSCON AZ, COSTCO WE WENT INTO THE STORE AND CAME OUT A FEW MINUTES LATER TO FIND A 1/8 OR BETTER STREAM OF GASOLINE COMING OUT OF THE S…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
