Owner report 11525055 · 2023-06-02 (June 2, 2023)

5 windows were replaced under the Lippert 21E-047 recall. The replacement windows were no better than the original recalled windows. One of the new replacement windows suddenly fell off the vehicle in traffic after only 4 months. The glue bond holding the window to the hinge failed. I sent pictures to Lippert showing the failed joint. Lippert refuses to have the defective replacement window repaired and shows no interest in evaluating the quality of the other replacement windows. This is a very dangerous situation as another one of the repla…

Recall history

5 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

20V171000 · Service Brakes, Air:Disc:Caliper

Reported: 2020-03-20 (March 20, 2020)

Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Essex and London Aire, 2019 Mountain Aire, Ventana LE and Ventana and 2020 Kountry Star motorhomes built on DTNA chassis. The brake caliper mounting bolts may have been insufficiently tightened.

Consequence: Loose brake caliper mounting bolts can reduce brake effectiveness, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Newmar will notify owners, and DTNA dealers will inspect and repair the vehicles, free of charge. The recall began May 6, 2020. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 or Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300. Newmar's number for this recall is 20V-127.

20V421000 · Exterior Lighting:Turn Signal | Exterior Lighting:Brake Lights | Electrical System

Reported: 2020-07-21 (July 21, 2020)

Newmar Corporaton (Newmar) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Ventana LE, 2017-2020 Ventana, London Aire, Essex and Dutch Star, 2017-2019 Mountain Aire, 2018-2020 New Aire, and 2020 Kountry Star motorhomes that received the 'inspection-only' remedy from recall 19V-426. The rear mounted Power Distribution Module (PDM) may have been damaged during manufacturing, possibly resulting in the rear marker lights, brake lights, or turn signals not functioning.

Consequence: Non-functioning exterior marker lights can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Newmar will notify owners, and Daimler Trucks North America dealers will replace the PDM, free of charge. This recall began September 11, 2020. Owners may contact Newmar's customer service at 1-800-731-8300. Newmar's number for this recall is 20V-404.

20V719000 · Equipment:Appliance:Oven/Stove/Cooktop

Reported: 2020-11-20 (November 20, 2020)

The stove's saddle valve securing bolt may be overtightened, possibly damaging the o-ring seal and causing a continuous gas leak.

Consequence: A gas leak can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Newmar will notify owners, and dealers will install a remedy kit of gaskets, washers, thread locker bolts, and two round orange labels, free of charge. The recall began January 18, 2021. Owners may contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300. Newmar's number for this recall is 20E 071.

21V571000 · Equipment:Recreational Vehicle/Trailer | Structure

Reported: 2021-07-27 (July 27, 2021)

Consequence: Adhesive failure may cause the vent portion of the window to detach, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect the windows, and replace the vent if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 10, 2021. Owners may contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300. Newmar's number for this recall is 21E 047.

The BrakeSync valve is located too close to the turbo charger. In hot weather and slow traffic or high engine load as when climbing long grades enough heat builds up to cause the high pressure hose from the air supply tank to the regulator valve to blow.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
