Owner report 11442977 · 2021-12-07 (December 7, 2021)

While rolling to a stop and turning (3) times and once while slowing for speed bumps my 2022 Dodge Rebel 5.7L V8 Hemi with E-Torque shut off, the emergency brake applied itself and it shifted itself to park. This happened while turning onto a busy street where a bad accident could have happened because of it. There were no warning or indicators prior to the truck shutting off by itself. It has been to the dealership twice with no fix. I have had it for three weeks.

THE STEERING WENT OUT DUE TO A PCM FAILURE. THE DEALER SAID THAT THE PCM SHUT DOWN THE STEERING DUE TO SENSING TOO MUCH VOLTAGE FROM GENERATOR TO PROTECT THIS UNIT. I WAS TRAVELING ON US HIGHWAY 400 AT 50MPH WHEN IT WOULD NOT STEER LEFT OR RIGHT. IT WOULD ONLY GO STRAIGHT. I FEEL THAT RAM NEEDS TO PUT SOMETHING ELSE IN LINE SO THAT STEERING IS NOT SHUT OFF IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN.

IF YOU TURN THE ROTARY DIAL TO THE THE R POSITION IT JUST SITS THERE LIKE IT IS IN NEUTRAL. I was backing up in traffic and when I turned the truck to drive it would not shift into drive. The truck reved up like it was in neutral or park and wouldn’t move forward. I had to put the truck in reverse again and then back in drive a second time to get it to shift into drive. This incident almost caused a wreck, because the truck would not shift into drive and move. The traffic coming from behind had to stop to keep from hitting me because the truck wouldn’t shift into drive and move forward.

Vehicle stalled while driving. Causing sudden loss of engine power and related functions such as power steering. Cause was do to water intrusion from rear window leaking on to a control module RF Module. The leak is common in thousands of ram trucks over several years. They’ve attempted to address it for some years but not all. Having such an important piece of equipment under a window which they know is prone to leaking is irresponsible and negligent. I own a 2022 Ram 1500 Bighorn with approximately 84,000 miles. This vehicle has repeatedly experienced a severe safety defect that began around 20,000 miles. The visors on both sides will just detach and unexpectedly fall from the roof of the truck while you are driving. They are fairly big and when they detach and fall it poses a risk of crashing. After a cold start, I drove 0.5 miles to an intersection. The engine stalled, the vehicle applied the electric parking brake, and would not move. The dash indicated a shift to park was required. The shift was completed and the vehicle was restarted, but in an unsafe state. The hybrid starter/generator was not charging the battery, and service was required. I have had this truck to the dealer several times for this safety problem but they can't duplicate or fix it. I believe it is the same as 23V-265, but they have not included 2022 models.

They’ve attempted to address it for some years but not all. Having such an important piece of equipment under a window which they know is prone to leaking is irresponsible and negligent. On 5/7/23 I was on my way home driving roughly 40-45 MPH. The vehicle shutoff causing my steering to not work and my brakes to not work. I hit a telephone pole head on splitting the telephone pole in half. I spent 16 hrs in the hospital and now have a long road of recovery ahead of me.

Over the three years of ownership we have had four occurrences of random stalling when taking left turns, where the engine stalls out, and the emergency parking brake engages. This can easily be a life threatening occurrence as it happens in the middle of the intersection during the left turn and it takes time to confirm the car is turned off, then need to disengage the emergency brake and THEN restart the car, all while stuck in the middle of an intersection. We reported this to multiple dealerships, the one we purchased at and the ones givi…

I am reporting a serious and ongoing safety issue with my Ram 1500. The vehicle has experienced multiple incidents of complete power loss while driving, including at highway speeds. During these events, the vehicle abruptly shuts down without warning. The dashboard lights illuminate (including the battery and check engine lights), followed by total electrical failure. The engine turns off, the radio and displays go dark, and I lose power steering and braking assist, then the emergency brake engages, making the vehicle extremely difficult to con…

Right turn from to sign. Seems that start/stop shut off the engine. When brake was lifted the engine started and immediately stalled, e brake came on and battery warning and check engine light illuminated. I got It going again after shifting to park and releasing the parking brake and turned off start/stop. Got a weird drivetrain vibration soon after so I pulled off and turned the engine off. After I got going again it seemed to run fine but the check engine light is still lit. Two errors were thrown and appear in my Ram app: Charging System Fa…

Shut off ignition completely with a quick press of start engine and foot not on brake pedal. Attempted another restart of engine and was successful. Check engine light remained on. The drive train in my truck has multiple issues that have been going on since I bought the truck last December. The rear end has a clunk when making a yield type turn or when applying gas after coasting. This clunk is heard and felt from the driver seat. There is a delay when shifting into reverse from park which gives a clunk when it shifts into gear. The truck is jerky at slow speeds (25mph and below) or when coming to a stop. The throttle has a delay when starting off. You will push the gas to go and the transmission is not ready. …

While trying to leave for work I’ve had multiple days of a hard start or no start issue. The vehicle will attempt to start and either run rough for 2 mins while it catches up or will just shut off and not start again for a few minutes. The blower motor inside the car seems to be not functioning properly, while driving it will increase speed and then slow down, and it will do this for the length of the ride.

2022 Ram 1500 Vehicle with approximately 9000 miles, has stalled now twice while driving at speeds of 25 to 35 miles per hour and soon after shifts into park, and then will not start. One was on a busy street that caused risk of near accident, another was in neighborhood. Vehicle was towed after first stall, but dealership only saw stall on computer but did not have any codes or repairs identified. Vehicle also would not start on more than one occasion. Dealership cannot get in to service for 3 to 4 weeks.
