Owner report 11442678 · 2021-12-04 (December 4, 2021)

I purchased a brand new RAM 2500 Limited Cummins. Crew Cab, long bed. I heard online on one of the diesel truck forums that the factory was underfilling the differentials. I checked both differentials, and found that the front was at least 3/4 of a quart low on oil, and the rear was about 1/4 of a quart low. This could potentially cause a crash or wheel lockup if the differential were to fail due to being low on oil!

Owner report 11449629 · 2022-01-31 (January 31, 2022)

After shifting into reverse the infotainment screen sets brightness to full which at night is blinding and causes eyesight visibility to be extremely low when looking at other views to back up like the mirrors or outside the window. This increases the risk of hitting something or someone when in reverse. Instead, the infotainment screen brightness should not change. Specifically during night time.

After winter snow 3 inches when electric deployed running boards were deployed to enter vehicle when stepping on to the running board ir was found to be covered is black ice. This caused loss of traction and slipping. No injuries occurred but were very likely if not for some luck. The current design allows for melting snow to drip down rhe doors and freeze on the running boards that are recessed under the truck.

This is a 2022 Ram 2500 Long Horn with teh 6.7L Cummings Diesel. I have owned it for 30 days and it has 1475 miles on the odometer. The Service DEF System came on and after talking with the local dealership, the DEF sensor and or DEF pump has failed due to the DEF freezing. They have explained that this is a know issue and has affected the 2019 to present model year. After doing extensive research on neumorous blogs, it is a much larger problem than the dealer is letting on. It appears to be created by a design change that took place in 2019…

DEF sensor malfunctions, threatening to limit vehicle to 5 mph or stop completely. This is because DEF fluid freezes in cold weather. Sensor reads that DEF tank is empty, even when it is full. Contacted local dealer who confirmed the issue and noted that it is a prevalent problem and he has a backlog of trucks with the same issue. I consider this a safety issue, as I could be stranded on the road in winter conditions or not have access to my vehicle in case of emergency. The brakes are very inconsistent with a spongy pedal. When a vehicle in front of me caused an emergency stop, the pedal continued to travel almost to the floor and never felt firm. However, if the adaptive cruise control starts to brake first and the brake pedal gets depressed by the driver after that, it feels firm. These brakes are very unsafe on a truck rated to tow as much as these are.

My 2023 ram 2500 with 12,000 miles dose not always accelerate the way it should has been doing this once in awhile since new but has got more frequent. When my truck is put into Neutral gear position and my foot is taken off the brake the trucks message center shows "Press Brake and TURN shifter to desired gear". Unfortunately, this is impossible to do as these trucks are only equipped with Column shifter handles and not dash mounted rotary knobs. It is literally impossible to follow this direction as given. I have to imagine giving a customer a direction that is physically impossible to carry out is likely a safety violation for the manufacturer.

THIS IS REGARDING THE 6.7L CUMMINS ENGINE. THROTTLE LAG FROM A DEAD STOP SUCH AS MERGING INTO TRAFFIC OR CROSSING A ROAD IS DANGEROUS. THIS LAG COULD VERY WELL CAUSE ME TO GET REAR ENDED OR BROAD SIDED. THERE IS ALSO VERY SIGNIFICANT LAG AFTER THE GAS PEDAL HAS BEEN RELEASED AND THEN PRESSED ONCE AGAIN. AN EXAMPLE IS WHEN SLOWING DOWN WHEN APPROACHING A SLOWER CAR AND THEN CHANGING LANES AND PRESSING AND ACCELERATING TO GO AROUND THE VEHICLE. *JS

My truck as working fine with zero problems until I took it in for the Y43 safety recall July 2025. the dealership performed the software update without verifying if parts were in stock first. Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

I was notified of the Particulate Matter (PM) Sensor not being installed in the exhaust aftertreatment system of my vehicle on a post delivery survey I received. The dealership's service department has no idea about this sensor not being installed by the factory, and the response from the letter stated there would be a recall soon to have the PM sensor installed, but that has not happened over a year later. The ECU will need an update once the sensor is installed, which would allow the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) gauge to function. This pos…

The Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor on my 2022 Ram 2500 failed, causing multiple system malfunctions. It triggered inaccurate Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) codes and showed abnormally high idle hours that do not reflect actual vehicle use. Google search shows that this is a significant issue affecting m…
