Owner report 11479816 · 2022-08-17 (August 17, 2022)

A big chunk of tread separated from the tire while on a 3000 mile trip. We believe it occurred when we were nearly home and were lucky that there was no blowout. There was no damage to the tire that we are aware of but it could have been very dangerous situation.

Owner report 11489179 · 2022-10-13 (October 13, 2022)

I'd like to report a safety issue with the RAM PROMASTER 3500 chassis. Ours is a Winnebago Solis PX Campervan. The sliding van side door is often impossible to open from the inside. There is a plastic lever that doesn't catch and is ineffective. I've been locked in many times after pulling and pulling on it and when the front seats are turned around for camping it's difficult to use the front doors to exit. Obviously, in case of an emergent need to get out of the van, this is dangerous. I've seen many other owners of this model complain of…

Is intelligent speed assist implemented backward in the new Ram Promaster 3500? I attached a screenshot of the owners manual page describing how it should be working. I have experience several instances of the van automatically slamming on the brakes when traveling down the highway when the van recognizes a 25 mph speed limit sign for an off ramp. I have not been the only one. There are other posts about similar situations on the Ram Promaster Facebook page. I have a 2023 Solis 59PX that is built on the (new) 2022 Ram 3500 chassis. My Proma…

I was told that a video would be more helpful. The issue follows: Periodically when I have been using Adaptive Cruise Control the van will automatically, harshly apply the brakes in the middle of the highway. Power steering failure. Luckily for us, the failure happened while still in our driveway, so no accident or collision occurred. We had warning messages for ESC, hill start assist, and several other systems, but nothing for EPS (electric power steering). The dealership was able to repair the problem by replacing the steering rack and two associated wiring harnesses. The mechanic noted water and a lot of corrosion in the wiring connector on the steering rack. This vehicle has only had normal water exposure (rain and puddles on the road).

Sudden failure of the power steering system. Vehicle became very difficult to steer, lucky no other cars or pedestrians were in the area. Per the dealer water entered the wiring harness and entered the power steering module causing it to fail. When the power steering failed, warning messages began appearing on the dash, which included "hill assist needs service", "ECS needs service", "FWC system needs service" and "Engine needs service".

Less than a half mile into my work day the van started flashing all warning lights ( Hill assist, power steering, service engine, abs ETC.) I was on a busy road and was attempting to pull off to safety But the van turned off. Was able to jump it after 2 attempts and get it to the dealer 1 mile away, without any other lights coming back on aside from CEL. Dealer informed me I have 2 Corroded wiring harnesses, bad rack & Pinion and alternator is at 7%.... From what I've heard, this is a problem that could have been prevented by the manufacturers.…

The forward collision light has been on but has not been affecting driving. Since I saw that here I figured it was worth mentioning. I have mentioned this to the dealership that is handling the current recalls as well. The more pressing issue is the steering. It happened once before where I was backing up and the steering wheel became difficult to rotate and violently jerking back against the direction of rotation. After shutting down the van and restarting it the issue had seemingly gone away. I emailed RAM about this initial occurrence but h…

On November 3, 2023 I was driving the van on the NYS Thruway. I had stopped at a rest area to use the facilities. When I returned to the van about 5 minutes later the vehicle was smoking profusely and objects were falling out of the engine area. By the time i got to the van there were flames coming out of the engine area and the entire front of the van was engulfed in flames. Luckily someone had called the fire department and the flames were extinguished quickly. In the meantime I had removed 2 Alpacas from the rear of the van with the help of …

The chassis battery keeps dying after a few days. There was a recall for awning to correct issue because it would open on its own. We did recall now there is another one for seatbelt. But no one is addressing the battery that keeps draining. We replaced battery already once. Dodge said it will go dead after a week no matter what. Ours don’t even make it 4 days. This is a safety issue because of the awning opening but it affects the battery. We would get stuck and no one to jump us.

The left brake actuator (68603568AA) literally fell apart on the vehicle at 40,000 miles. This triggered a warning on the dash and disabled emergency braking as well as cruise control. The local RAM dealers refuse to do anything about it because the warranty expired 4,000 miles ago, so we took it to an independent mechanic. They ordered the replacement part but informed us it was back ordered with no ETA and that there are no aftermarket parts available. My vehicle started to have an extremely aggressive shaking steering wheel when trying to turn into a parking lot leaving me stuck in the road for 10minutes not being able to turn without it jerking aggressively. Turns out its a common issue and caused by faulty plugs under vehicle going to the power steering motor that let water in and corrode the plugs/wiring. Dealer suggested I replace 2 wiring harnesses and motor.
