03V148000 · Service Brakes, Hydraulic:Brake Fluid Low Warning: Lamp

Reported: 2003-04-15 (April 15, 2003)

CERTAIN MOTOR HOME CHASSIS FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 105, "HYDRAULIC AND ELECTRIC BRAKE SYSTEMS." THE BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR MAY NOT FUNCTION AS REQUIRED BY STANDARD.

Consequence: IN SOME OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES, THE BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR WILL NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE IGNITION IS IN THE START POSITION OR FOR A LOW BRAKE FLUID CONDITION, IF THE BODY BUILDER RELIED SOLELY UPON FORD'S IVM COMPLIANCE STATEMENT FOR THE BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPAIR THE BRAKE WARNING LAMP CIRCUIT. OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN JULY 1, 2003. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT REXHALL AT 1-800-444-9720.

07V417000 · Equipment:Recreational Vehicle/Trailer

Reported: 2007-09-05 (September 5, 2007)

ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES EQUIPPED WITH A TWO-DOOR REFRIGERATOR MANUFACTURED BY THE DOMETIC CORPORATION, THE REFRIGERATOR MAY HAVE A DEFECT IN THE REFRIGERATOR BOILER TUBE. PRESSURIZED COOLANT SOLUTION COULD BE RELEASED INTO AN AREA WHERE AN IGNITION SOURCE (GAS FLAME) IS PRESENT.

Consequence: RELEASE OF COOLANT UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS COULD IGNITE AND RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy: REXHALL WILL BE WORKING WITH DOMETIC IN ORDER TO REPAIR THESE REFRIGERATORS (PLEASE SEE 06E076). DOMETIC WILL REPAIR THESE REFRIGERATORS BY INSTALLING A SECONDARY BURN HOUSING, A THERMAL FUSE, AND A MELT FUSE FREE OF CHARGE. DOMETIC HAS RETAINED STERICYCLE INC. TO MANAGE THIS CAMPAIGN. STERICYCLE WILL ASSIST THE OWNER IN LOCATING DEALERSHIPS OR SERVICE CENTERS AND WILL PROVIDE ASSISTANCE WITH SCHEDULING OF APPOINTMENTS. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE JULY 4, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DOMETIC/STERICYCLE AT 1-888-446-5157 OR REXHALL AT 1-661-726-0565.

WE WERE TRAVELING ON RTE 95 IN MAINE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN WE HEARD A LOUD "WIND" SOUND. WE EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND NOTED THE WINDSHIELD AT THE TOP CENTER WAS CAVING IN. WE SUPPORTED THE WINDSHIELD FROM BEHIND WITH PAPER TOWEL ROLL'S AND THE BACK OF THE UPPER COMPARTMENT'S AND CONTINUED TO COHACKIE NEW YORK TO WHERE WE HAD PURCHASED THE RV. THEY MADE A TEMPORARY REPAIR TO GET US TO FLORIDA WHERE WE WERE HEADING TO MEET A DELIVERY TRUCK AT OUR NEW HOME THERE. ALONG THE TRIP, THE TEMPORARY REPAIR HAD FAILED, AND WE HAD RESORTED TO…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
