Recall history
5 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
02V004009 · Vehicle Speed Control
Reported: 2002-09-19 (September 19, 2002)
ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES AND FIRE TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL/ACCELERATOR PEDALS SUPPLIED BY WILLIAMS CONTROLS INDUSTRIES, THE WELD ATTACHING THE CLEVIS TO THE PLATE HAS INSUFFICIENT PENETRATION AND COULD ALLOW THE CLEVIS TO SEPARATE FROM THE PLATE.
Consequence: IF THE CLEVIS SEPARATED FROM THE PLATE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN USE, THE VEHICLE WOULD RETURN TO IDLE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: WILLIAMS CONTROLS IS HANDLING THE REPLACEMENT OF THIS PEDAL. OWNERS WHO DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT WILLIAMS CONTROL AT 1-503-684-8600 OR SPARTAN AT 1-800-722-3025.
NHTSA campaign record ↗02V018004 · Service Brakes, Air:Supply:Check Valve
Reported: 2002-04-15 (April 15, 2002)
ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES AND FIRE TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH MERITOR WABCO PNEUMATIC ANITLOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) VALVE PACKAGES, THE ASSEMBLY BOLTS ON THESE VALVE PACKAGES WERE NOT TIGHTENED CORRECTLY.
Consequence: BOLTS TORQUED BELOW SPECIFICATION WILL NOT RELIABLY PREVENT AIR LEAKAGE AT THE AFFECTED ABS VALVE PACKAGE INTERFACE JOINTS ONCE THE COMPONENT BEGINS NORMAL VEHICLE OPERATION. IF AIR LEAKS DEVELOP AT ANY OF THE ABS VALVE PACKAGE INTERFACE JOINTS, BRAKE SYSTEM PRESSURE REDUCTIONS COULD OCCUR DURING BRAKING OR NORMAL OPERATION WITH UNITS EQUIPPED WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL OPTION, POTENTIALLY EXTENDING STOPPING DISTANCES, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
Remedy: MERITOR WABCO WILL TIGHTEN THE FASTENERS TO THE PROPER SPECIFICATION. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT MERITOR WABCO AT 859-746-5956.
NHTSA campaign record ↗03V202000 · Suspension:Front:Control Arm
Reported: 2003-06-03 (June 3, 2003)
ON CERTAIN MOTORHOMES EQUIPPED WITH TUTHILL INDEPENDENT FRONT SUSPENSIONS, THE DEFECT IS INSUFFICIENT TIGHTENING TORQUE OF THE STEERING KNUCKLE CARRIER BOLT THAT MAY RESULT IN SEPARATION OF THE STEERING KNUCKLE FROM ONE OF THE CONTROL ARMS.
Consequence: SHOULD THE STEERING KNUCKLE CARRIER SEPARATE FROM THE CONTROL ARM, THE OPERATOR COULD LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A CRASH.
Remedy: TUTHILL WILL NOTIFY ITS CUSTOMERS AND PROVIDE A RETROFIT KIT P/N K704627 FREE OF CHARGE. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT TUTHILL TRANSPORT TECHNOLOGIES AT 800-225-7824 (EXT. #390) OR SPARTAN AT 517-543-6400.
NHTSA campaign record ↗05V146000 · Service Brakes, Air:Supply
Reported: 2005-04-12 (April 12, 2005)
ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES EQUIPPED WITH NGI AIR PRESSURE GAUGES LOCATED ON THE DASH PANEL IS GIVING A FALSE READING.
Consequence: THIS MAY CAUSE THE PARK BRAKE TO ENGAGE WITHOUT WARNING, THUS THROWING THE PASSENGER FORWARD, CREATING THE POTENTIAL FOR INJURY TO OCCUPANTS.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL USE A JUMPER HARNESS CONTAINING A 33 OHM RESISTOR WHICH WILL SHIFT THE RESISTANCE CURVE OF THE AIR PRESSURE SENDER TO MATCH THE ALARM POINT OF THE CURRENT GAUGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 3, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT SPARTAN AT 517-543-6400.
NHTSA campaign record ↗15V633000 · Steering
Reported: 2015-10-08 (October 8, 2015)
Spartan Motors USA (Spartan) is recalling certain model year 1997-2005 MM and K2 motorhome chassis manufactured January 20, 2003, to May 16, 2005. The affected vehicles have a steering gear mounting bracket that may crack, causing a loss of steering ability.
Consequence: A loss of steering increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Spartan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering gear mounting brackets, free of charge. An interim notice was mailed to owners on December 4, 2015. Owners may contact Spartan customer service at 1-800-543-4277. Spartan's number for this recall is 15022.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

|---|---|---|---|
| 2022 | 1 | 0 | 0 |
| 2023 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
