Owner report 11537867 · 2023-08-11 (August 11, 2023)

I discovered a recall for my car, which makes it unsafe to drive without service and a remedy. Additionally, my car is under warranty. I contacted both the dealership I purchased the car from and the manufacturer for information and a solution. The manufacturer initially denied any recall, even though the recall is stated on the NHTSA website with my car’s VIN. They later stated that the dealership is responsible for remedying the recall. The dealership has told me they are unable to remedy the recall and to contact the manufacturer again. I ha…

The front passenger airbag sensor is faulty. My understanding is that the airbag is set up to be deployed when someone who is at least 65lbs sits on the front seat. I am 85lbs so the sensor should always detect me but it doesn't; it only does so about 10% of the time. Sometimes it turns on and then goes off. In contrast, I always trigger the sensor in my husband's 2023 Subaru Crosstrek.

I have not had an accident yet. I bought this vehicle in May and recently drove it at night. This vehicle is a nighmare!!!! The LED steering responsive headlights are absolutely horrible and you cannot drive this vehicle at night using the low beams. If you are on a completely level road, you'll be ok. If you are on a road with at least a slight dip in the road, these headlights face downward in front of you about 30 yards out max. That means you cannot see anything beyond where the beam hits the road. You would have to drive with high b…

Driver side mirror shaking, blurry, vibrating on new 2024 Impreza. Makes one motion sick due to vibration while driving. The driver side mirror is shaking/vibrating and blurring out license plates, took it to dealer and while they do notice some shaking while increasing speed they don’t see any reason to fix it even though it mashes driving rather unsafe on highway. It is a little blurry/shakes around 20 mph and gets worse as speed goes up. When I hit 40-60 mph, it is constantly blurred or shaking.

Owner report 11631918 · 2024-12-21 (December 21, 2024)

Car braked suddenly and violently while driving slowly (5-10 MPH) in traffic. Foot was on the gas pressing lightly - not on the brake. Braking occurred independently with such force that I thought I had been hit by another vehicle going 30-40 MPH. Hyman Bros. Subaru has not yet returned my calls regarding this incident.

Recall history

2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

23V551000 · Electrical System: Instrument Cluster/Panel

Reported: 2023-08-04 (August 4, 2023)

Subaru of America, Inc. (Subaru) is recalling certain 2024 Crosstrek and Impreza vehicles. Due to insufficient clearance, the instrument panel harness may contact the steering beam bracket, damaging the wire insulation and causing a short circuit.

Consequence: A short circuit may cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect the harness and install an additional clamp on the steering beam bracket. If damage is found, dealers will add protective tape or replace the instrument panel harness, as necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 3, 2023. Owners may contact Subaru customer service at 1-844-373-6614. Subaru's number for this recall is WRL-23.

Reported: 2023-11-09 (November 9, 2023)

Subaru of America, Inc. (Subaru) is recalling certain 2024 Crosstrek, Impreza, 2023-2024 Forester, and 2023 WRX vehicles. The front driveshaft assemblies' outer race may develop cracks and break.

Consequence: A broken driveshaft can cause a loss of drive power while driving or vehicle rollaway when the vehicle is in park without the parking brake engaged. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the left and right front driveshafts as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 8, 2024. Owners may contact Subaru's customer service at 1-844-373-6614. Subaru's number for this recall is WRP-23.

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG INDICATOR WAS INDICATING THAT IT WAS OFF WHILE A PASSENGER WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT. THIS IS UNUSUAL BECAUSE IF SOMETHING SUCH AS A PURSE IS PLACED IN THE SEAT, THE INDICATOR WILL CHANGE FROM OFF TO ON DUE TO THE SEAT BEING OCCUPIED. I THINK THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND I FEAR DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH A PASSENGER IN THE SEAT. THIS IS VERY ALARMING TO ME BECAUSE THERE ARE MANY TIMES I HAVE 4 CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME. 3 IN THE BACK OF COURSE AND ONE IN THE FRONT. *TR

We have a hesitation when hitting the gas with our Subaru Impreza. I took it to a mechanic who said there isn't officially an issue with the car, but it is consistent with a CRT transmition issue on other Subarus. The only way we are able to fix it is to take it to a Subaru dealership who insist there isn't an issue. I am not sure what to do but it seems like there is a consistent issue with the car model.

ONLY A FEW MONTHS AFTER LEASING A BRAND NEW 2019 SUBARU IMPREZA SPORT, I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY I HAVE TAKEN 100'S OF TIMES AND A SMALL ROCK HIT MY WINDSHIELD. THIS CAUSED MY WINDSHIELD TO CRACK AND KEEP SPLITTING UNTIL IT COVERED A GOOD 2 FEET OF THE GLASS. THIS CONTINUED AFTER THE CAR WAS PARKED. I HAD TO PAY MY DEDUCTIBLE TO HAVE THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED. I THOUGHT THIS WAS ODD BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ANY OTHER VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY SO EASILY.

To start of with the steering seems to loosen up while driving, it's hard to explain but while driving the vehicle it is very noticable that the car is jurking side to side , if your used to a certain pressure put on the steering wheel to turn or keep in a constant turn(like a long turn or steady turn on a long bend in a road , the steering loosens to the point that the pressure you are holding the car at going in the turn makes you go into oncoming traffic or to the opposite side towards the side of the road) and this is not a good situation t…

The issue was initially identified by an independent mechanic during brake pad and rotor replacement on all four wheels. The ballooning was subsequently confirmed during an inspection by a Subaru dealership technician. This issue posed a safety risk, as the compromised brake lines could rupture under braking pressure, potentially resulting in reduced or complete loss of braking ability and increasing the risk of a crash. On 12/16/2025, Service Director confirmed: brake rotor defects, weak struts causing tire wear, and replaced both rear struts, tires, and "the other 2" components under warranty/customer satisfaction. CRITICAL SAFETY CONCERN: During a prior service visit, dealership performed tire rotation moving a compromised tire from rear axle to FRONT STE…

Part 1 Today is January, 28, 2026 How it all started. My appointment was Tuesday, June 10th, 2025 at 10:15 am. During my last oil change, I was informed by Chris that an alignment would be needed to correct the rear passenger wheel showing -2.4 camber. I asked Chris could I go ahead and schedule the service repair now. Chris replied, you will have to schedule the appointment after you leave. Isn’t it strange that I’m already at the dealership and being told a repair is needed, but I can’t schedule the appointment while I’m there, I have t…

Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking

ODI 11631918

Car braked suddenly and violently while driving slowly (5-10 MPH) in traffic. Foot was on the gas pressing lightly - not on the brake. Braking occurred independently with such force that I thought I had been hit by another vehicle going 30-40 MPH. Hyman Bros. Subaru has not yet returned my calls regarding this incident.

Unnecessary braking in two instances. One happened when Subarus Eyesight system mis identified a road reflector. At least that is what I saw. It happened on a 40 mile an hour highway in a curve with moderate traffic. No one directly behind me. The car had a sudden deceleration and warning. The second time came when approaching freeway speeds on an on ramp. At heavy acceleration approaching 50 miles per hour the car violently slammed on the brakes. A shadow from a tall fir tree crossed the on ramp. Again no one was behind me. It can'…

While driving at various speeds, my vehicle consistently produces a clicking noise from the upper right-rear C-pillar area. The noise is most noticeable when the vehicle body twists slightly during normal driving, such as when traveling over uneven pavement, entering driveways, or making turns. The condition has persisted and is repeatable. The vehicle was inspected over approximately six weeks by an authorized dealership. After extensive diagnosis, the dealership identified a suspected welding defect in the upper right-rear C-pillar/body stru…

I own a 2024 Subaru Impreza (base trim, FB24 engine). The engine has developed repeated oil leaks into the spark plug wells due to failed spark plug tube seals / valve cover sealing on the same engine. The first occurrence was around 24,000 miles. The dealer found engine oil in the spark plug tubes, diagnosed leaking spark plug tube seals (and/or valve cover gasket), and performed repairs under warranty. At that time, the car was relatively new and maintained on schedule. The second occurrence happened again around 30,000 miles. The dealer ag…
