Recall history

2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

23V205000 · Parking Brake

Reported: 2023-03-24 (March 24, 2023)

Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2023 Semi trucks. The electronic parking brake valve module (PVM) may fail to move into the park position when the parking brake is activated.

Consequence: A parking brake that is not engaged as expected when the driver releases the brakes may allow the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of crash.

Remedy: Tesla service will replace the PVM, free of charge. All affected vehicles were repaired by April 10, 2023. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-23-33-001.

23V422000 · Structure:Body:Door

Reported: 2023-06-13 (June 13, 2023)

Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2023 Semi vehicles. The door open warning indicator only displays when the vehicle's parking brake is not engaged and the side door is not fully latched. In addition, the door closure warning system allows the operator to dismiss the notification that the side door is unlatched, which could result in driving with an unsecured door. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 206, "Door Locks and Door Retention Components."

Consequence: An operator may be unaware of an unsecured door and begin driving, increasing the risk of injury to occupants.

Remedy: Tesla has released an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge. All affected vehicles were repaired by June 2023. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752.

I had taken delivery of the truck 4 days earlier and had driven about 250 miles. There had been no warnings or incidents other than an issue with charging at my home. The Charger would fail 20 seconds after each charging attempt at home, but not at a Super Charging Station. On [XXX] a series of alerts went off regarding steering. First the onboard computer notified me that the "Rear axle steering was disabled and that the turning radius was limited." The driver door striker latch came loose and was close to completely disconnecting from the vehicle body. This led to a body panel gap and the possibility of the door opening while in motion. Elon Musk on twitter is saying that a number of vehicles from the factory were delivered to customers for this issue and it is a major safety risk that should be addressed officially. The contact owns a  2024 Tesla Cyber Truck. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed during daylight, the dashboard accent would reflect in the side mirrors. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic and taken to a local dealer for repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred him to call NHTSA to file a safety complaint. The failure mileage was unknown.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
