Owner report 11432418 · 2021-09-10 (September 10, 2021)

My front cap has been leaking for about a year, and I have had it "repaired" three times already under warranty. It is still leaking, and, in fact, it may be getting worse. This cap contains, among other things, a nearly queen-sized bed for sleeping. I have read on Thor forums that countless other owners are having similar problems, which stems from the front cap not being secured/installed correctly. This includes missing seals and/or missing screws. My fear is that this cap will continue to sag/loosen and eventually fall/break off while …

Recall history

5 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

19V240000 · Visibility:Rearview Mirrors/Devices:Interior | Visibility:Rearview Mirrors/Devices

Reported: 2019-03-27 (March 27, 2019)

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2018 Thor Chateau and Four Winds motorhomes and 2019-2020 Magnitude and Omni motorhomes. The backup camera displays may revert back to the factory default settings which may cause the camera image to be reversed.

Consequence: If the monitor displays the image in reverse, the driver may unintentionally turn in the wrong direction, increasing the risk of crash.

Remedy: TMC will notify owners, and dealers will install a harness to install that will prevent the image from inverting, free of charge. The recall began April 30, 2019. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867. TMC's number for this recall is RC000168.

19V417000 · Electrical System:Wiring

Reported: 2019-06-05 (June 5, 2019)

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Magnitude, Omni motorhomes, models BB35 and BH35. Wires located in the electrical junction box may move around and contact an extra screw that was errantly installed.

Consequence: Contact with the screw may result in the wiring insulation being damaged, increasing the risk of an electrical short circuit and a fire.

Remedy: TMC will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the junction box and remove the extra screw, and repair any damaged wiring, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began July 15, 2019. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867. TMC's number for this recall is RC000169.

19V504000 · Equipment:Recreational Vehicle/Trailer

Reported: 2019-06-30 (June 30, 2019)

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Challenger, Miramar, Magnitude, Outlaw, Omni, and Palazzo motorhomes. The vehicle control system software may cause the slide-out room to move unexpectedly.

Consequence: Unexpected movement of the slide-out room can increase the risk of a injury.

Remedy: TMC will notify owners, and dealers will update the affected software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin August 28, 2019. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867. TMC's number for this recall is RC000170.

19V566000 · Equipment

Reported: 2019-08-01 (August 1, 2019)

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Omni and Magnitude motorhomes. The battery tray may be improperly welded to the chassis frame, allowing the battery tray to detach from the chassis.

Consequence: If the battery tray detaches from the chassis, the battery may discharge, causing the vehicle to stall and increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: TMC has notified owners, and dealers will weld on an additional support to the battery tray, free of charge. The recall began August 8, 2019. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867. TMC's number for this recall is RC000171.

19V786000 · Seats:Front Assembly:Recliner

Reported: 2019-11-01 (November 1, 2019)

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Magnitude and Omni motorhomes. The seat recliner mechanisms may be missing the third pawl required for seat back strength, resulting in a loose seat back. These vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 202, "Head Restraints" and 207, "Seating Systems."

Consequence: Improperly assembled recliner mechanism may have reduced strength and may not adequately restrain an occupant in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Ford has notified TMC owners, and Ford dealers will inspect the seat structures and replace them, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began October 21, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867. TMC's number for this recall is RC000178.

The engineering and structural integrity of 80%+ of the thousands of Thor Magnitudes /Omnis produced from 2019 through 2023 are extremely questionable from a safety perspective. Thor Motor Coach, Inc. takes no responsibility for this, but the front caps of these motorhomes are separating from the rest of the coach. Thor refuses to issue a recall or further to cover a proper repair for this significant manufacturer defect. Thor will not even acknowledge that this is a structural issue due to faulty workmanship. After driving from California to New York, I saw that screws holding the Front Cap (cab over bunk) had started to back out and delaminated the trim. If the screws continue to back out, it is possible that the entire front cap attached to the Ford Chassis could break apart from the RV and injure the passengers or people on the road. I have reported this issue to Thor and I am awaiting feedback if they are able to repair. There are also many other Thor Magnitude customers reporting this issue online.

A wiring harness was found pinched, pins bent and broken, apparently in the process of mating the motorhome body to the cassis cab. This cable has power in it and could result in a vehicle fire. Thor has been completely unresponsive in assisting me, despite acknowledging it’s out of warranty, and I simply needed verification of their integration to the chassis, to reassure the after market warranty that this wasn’t something “tampered with”. As a retired fire fighter, I have seen the result of RV fires. They burn fast, and people die. I felt I…

I stopped at a campground after leaving SC. Discovered a Thor factory solar panel had detached somewhere between SC and Arkansas. The mounting bracket was still attached to the roof but the bolts, washers and nuts were missing on 2 of the 4 mounts and the other mounts had loose components. It would have been a possible catastrophic event if it would have detached at highway speeds.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison
