I HAVE NO REAR TAIL LIGHTS AND THE LEFT REAR TURN SIGNAL DOES NOT WORK. WHEN I ENTER MY VIN TO CHECK FOR RECALLS, IT SAYS INVALID PARAMETER. I TOOK IT TO FREIGHT LINER OF KC ON APRIL 18TH, 2019, THEY KEPT IT FOR 8 DAYS, SAID IT WAS NOT THEIR PROBLEM, IT WAS THOR'S PROBLEM, AND REQUIRED THAT I PAY THEM A $524 DIAGNOSTIC FEE BEFORE I COULD GET THE VEHICLE BACK.

Recall history

3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

18V763000 · Exterior Lighting:Turn Signal | Exterior Lighting:Brake Lights | Electrical System

Reported: 2018-10-30 (October 30, 2018)

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2017 Tuscany XTE and 2017-2019 Venetian, Aria, Tuscany, and Palazzo motorhomes built on Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation chassis. The Power Distribution Module (PDM) may have been damaged during manufacturing, possibly resulting in the rear marker lights, brake lights, or turn signals not functioning.

Consequence: Nonfunctioning lights can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: The remedy for this recall is still under development. Daimler Trucks North America, the manufacturer of the chassis began issuing owners an interim notification on October 24, 2018, and will send a second notification when parts become available. The recall began October 30, 2018. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867. TMC's number for this recall is RC000163.

19V200000 · Suspension:Front:Control Arm | Steering:Linkages:Tie Rod Assembly | Steering

Reported: 2019-03-14 (March 14, 2019)

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Aria, and 2019 Palazzo motorhomes built on a Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) chassis equipped with Detroit Axle axles. The affected vehicles may have loose steering and tie rod arm bolts.

Consequence: Loose steering and tie rod arm bolts can cause separation of the tie rod arm from the front wheels, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: TMC has notified owners, and DTNA dealers will inspect the steering arm and tie rod arm bolts for to make sure that they are properly tightened, installing new fasteners as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on March 15, 2019. Owners may contact Daimler Trucks North America at 1-800-547-0712 to locate a Qualified Service Center or may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867. TMC's number for this recall is RC000166.

Reported: 2019-06-30 (June 30, 2019)

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Challenger, Miramar, Magnitude, Outlaw, Omni, and Palazzo motorhomes. The vehicle control system software may cause the slide-out room to move unexpectedly.

Consequence: Unexpected movement of the slide-out room can increase the risk of a injury.

Remedy: TMC will notify owners, and dealers will update the affected software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin August 28, 2019. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867. TMC's number for this recall is RC000170.

THE WOOD FLOORS IN THE CARGO BAYS OF MY CLASS 'A' MOTORHOME WERE NOT SEALED DURING MANUFACTURING, WHICH ALLOWED WATER TO ENTER THE BAYS AND ROTTING THE WOOD FLOORS. THIS RESULTED IN A HAZARDOUS CONDITION WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION WHERE ITEMS, IN THE BAYS, COULD FALL UNDER THE TIRES OR JEOPARDIZE THE SAFETY OF OTHER VEHICLES. THIS CONDITION HAS OCCURRED TWICE ON MY VEHICLE AND WAS REPAIRED ONCE BY THOR UNDER WARRANTY, BUT REOCCURRED LESS THAN SIX MONTHS LATER.

ON APRIL 5, 2016, AS WE WERE DRIVING IN SOUTH CAROLINA, ON A DIVIDED HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65 MPH, WHEN WITH NO WARNING, WITH NO WARNING, THE OVERHEAD CABINET DIRECTLY OVER OUR HEADS CAME CRASHING DOWN ON US. IT HIT ME ON THE HEAD AND SHOULDER, AND HIT MY HUSBAND, JEFF, ON HIS ARM AND HAND. JEFF MANAGED TO LOOK OUT THE SIDE WINDOW AND USE THE CENTER LANE MARKING TO MAKE SURE WE STAYED ON THE ROAD. HE THEN PUT HIS HEAD DOWN SO THAT HE COULD SEE WELL ENOUGH UNDERNEATH THE FALLEN CABINET TO GET US OFF ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. IF HE HADN'T BEEN…

WE DISCOVERED THAT ALTHOUGH THE TRIM RING WAS SCREWED DOWN NO ACCESS TO THE DIESEL ENGINE WAS CUT OUT. WHEN WE CALLED THOR CUSTOMER SERVICE WE WERE TOLD THE THOR PALAZZO MODEL DID NOT HAVE SPECS FOR AN ENGINE ACCESS PANEL. WE ASKED THEN WHY A TRIM RING INSTALLED? THEY DID NOT HAVE AN ANSWER TO THIS. WE ARE VERY CONCERNED THE WINDOWS ON OUR 2016 PALAZZO WITH ONLY 12000 MILES ON IT HAS WINDOWS THAT ARE SEPARATING. THEY STARTED SEPARATING AT 8000. WE HAVE 5 WINDOWS THAT ARE SEPARATING AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN ARE HANGING OFF THE MOTOR HOME. IT WOULD BE DEVASTATING IF THEY FELL OFF AND HIT ANOTHER MOTOR VEHICLE OR MOTORCYCLE. *DT*JB

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
