TRIUMPH IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011-2012 SPRINT GT, TIGER 800 AND TIGER 800 XC MOTORCYCLES MANUFACTURED FROM JUNE 2010 THROUGH JUNE 2011. THE TOP BOX LOCKING HANDLE IS MISSING A CLIP ON THE LOCKING MECHANISM AND THUS IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE TOP BOX MAY DETACH FROM THE MACHINE.
Consequence: IF THE TOP BOX FALLS FROM THE MOTORCYCLE, IT COULD STRIKE ANOTHER VEHICLE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A NEW FITMENT CLIP PART TO THE TOP BOX LOCKING HANDLE SPINDLE TO ALIGN THE RACK AND PINION MECHANISM TO PREVENT DISENGAGEMENT. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 2, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TRIUMPH CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT 1-678-539-8782.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2012: 0 complaints · 2013: 0 complaints

Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2012 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2013 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
