Recall history

4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

05V475000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Storage:Tank Assembly

Reported: 2005-10-13 (October 13, 2005)

ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES BUILT ON FORD CHASSIS, THE FASTENERS HOLDING THE FUEL TANK MOUNTING STRAPS MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PROPERLY TIGHTENED, ALLOWING THE POSSIBILITY FOR THE FUEL TANK TO LOOSEN AND FALL.

Consequence: IF THE FUEL TANK FALLS, THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR THE TANK TO IGNITE, RESULTING IN PERSONAL INJURY, VEHICLE AND PROPERTY DAMAGE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND PROPERLY TIGHTEN THE FASTENERS TO THE FUEL TANK STRAPS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 15, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT WINNEBAGO AT 614-585-6939.

05V573000 · Structure:Body

Reported: 2005-12-28 (December 28, 2005)

ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES EQUIPPED WITH KWIKEE BRAND ELECTRIC STEPS, THE STEPS MAY HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED WITH DEFECTIVE STEP CONTROL UNITS.

Consequence: THE DEFECTIVE CONTROL UNITS COULD DEVELOP AN ELECTRICAL SHORT ALLOWING FOR THE POTENTIAL OF THE PLASTIC CASE TO IGNITE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR VEHICLE AND PROPERTY DAMAGE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE KWIKEE STEP AND REPLACE THE STEP CONTROL UNIT, IF NECESSARY, FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 23, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT WINNEBAGO AT 1-800-537-1885.

06V292000 · Equipment:Recreational Vehicle/Trailer

Reported: 2006-08-01 (August 1, 2006)

ON CERTAIN MOTORHOMES,THE FLAME ON THE COOKING RANGE MAY BE FORCED DOWNWARD OVER THE BURNER OR FLAME OUTAGE MAY OCCUR WHEN THE COOKING RANGE AND FURNACE ARE OPERATED AT THE SAME TIME. THIS IS DUE TO THE POSSIBILITY OF A MISSING OR INCOMPLETE CABINET PANEL THAT ISOLATES THE FURNACE RETURN AIR.

Consequence: IF THE FURNACE IS OPERATED AT THE SAME TIME AS THE STOVE AND THE CABINET PANEL IS MISSING OR INCOMPLETE, THE STOVE FLAME MAY GO OUT AND THE PROPANE GAS WILL CONTINUE TO FLOW, WHICH HAS THE POTENTIAL TO IGNITE RESULTING IN PERSONAL INJURY, VEHICLE AND PROPERTY DAMAGE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE CABINET ASSEMBLY AND, IF THE CABINENT PANEL IS MISSING OR INCOMPLETE, THE PANEL WILL BE INSTALLED OR REPAIRED. THE RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 10, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT WINNEBAGO AT 1-641-585-6939.

Consequence: THIS COULD HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO IGNITE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR VEHICLE AND PROPERTY DAMAGE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT MODULE GROUND WIRE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 30, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT WINNEBAGO AT 1-641-585-3535.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
