WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 94 APPROXIMATELY 23 AUGUST 2011, AND SURROUNDED BY SEMI TRUCK TRAFFIC I EXPERIENCED A RAPID DECELERATION OF MY VEHICLE WITHOUT ANY WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE TRAFFIC WAS SO TIGHT, AND DUE TO THE RAPID DECELERATION RATE, I BARELY ESCAPED BEING HIT FROM THE REAR BY AN APPROACHING FULLY LOADED 53 FOOT SEMI TRAILER. I FOUND OUT LATER THAT THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE EGR VALVE THAT FAILED DUE TO WATER INTRUSION. Recall history

3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

12V389000 · Equipment:Recreational Vehicle/Trailer:Lpg Systems:Lines And Fittings

Reported: 2012-08-08 (August 8, 2012)

Winnebago is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Winnebago and Itasca motor homes. A cutting machine may have scored the copper propane tubing resulting in unknown long-term reliability.

Consequence: If the copper tubing fails, propane can escape leading to a fire or explosion which can result in property damage, personal injury, or death.

Remedy: Winnebago will notify owners, and dealers will replace the copper tubing, free of charge. The recall began on September 6, 2012. Owners may contact Winnebago Industries Owner Relations at 1-641-585-6939.

12V559000 · Electrical System:Wiring:Fuses And Circuit Breakers

Reported: 2012-12-03 (December 3, 2012)

Winnebago is recalling certain model year 2009-2013 model Era motorhomes, 2010-2013 Via and Itasca Reyo motorhomes, and 2011-2013 View and Itasca Navion motorhomes; manufactured November 13, 2007, through August 20, 2012. The proper fuses were not installed for the refrigerator circuits.

Consequence: Without the proper fuse, heat can build which could lead to a vehicle fire.

Remedy: Winnebago will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuses. The recall began on December 21, 2012. Consumers may contact Winnebago Industries owner relations at 1-641-585-6939.

18V532000 · Equipment:Recreational Vehicle/Trailer:Lpg Systems:Lines And Fittings

Reported: 2018-08-15 (August 15, 2018)

Winnebago Industries, Inc. (Winnebago) 2012-2013 Winnebago Era, View, and Via motorhomes and Itasca Navion and Reyo motorhomes. The high pressure liquid propane hoses may harden at the crimp fitting, possibly resulting in a propane leak.

Consequence: A propane leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Winnebago will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the propane hose, replacing it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began September 17, 2018. Owners may contact Winnebago customer service at 1-641-585-6939 or 1-800-537-1885. Winnebago's number for this recall is 151.

I PURCHASED A NEW WINNEBAGO VIA MOTOR HOME (BUILT ON A MERCEDES BENZ SPRINTER CHASSIS) IN AUGUST 2010. ON SHORT TRIPS (10 TO 20 MILES) THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD TUM ON. ABOUT A WEEK AFTER THIS STARTED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND DID NOT TUM OFF. I CONTACTED A DEALER FOR REPAIR ADVICE AND WAS ASK TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE. THE DEALER IS ABOUT 60 MILES AWAY; REQUIRING 195 INTERSTATE USE TO DRIVE THERE. THE VEHICLE DROVE CORRECTLY ALMOST ALL THE WAY TO THE DEALER UNTIL I SLOWED IN PREPARATION TO EXITING FREEWAY BY CHANGING …

IN ADDITION TO THE PROPANE HOSE RECALL, WINNEBAGO SHOULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING AT THE SAME TIME ABOUT THE SYSTEMIC FAILURE OF THE LPG REGULATOR THAT IS INSTALLED IN THESE VEHICLES. REGULATOR FAILURE SEEMS TO BE VERY COMMON AS EVIDENCED BY THE MANY COMPLAINTS SEEN ON THE VIA OWNERS YAHOO WEB SITE. MY REGULATOR FAILED ON THE VERY FIRST TRIP WE MADE IN OUR BRAND NEW 2015 VIA, CAUSING MUCH DISCOMFORT , INCONVENIENCE AND WORRY ABOUT OUR SAFETY DURING OUR FEB & MARCH 2016 WINTER TRIP IN ARIZONA, NEW MEXICO AND SEVERAL OTHER STATES. WE HAD NO WATER HEAT…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
