Owner report 11764418 · 2026-09-15 (September 15, 2026)

I am reporting a severe vehicle safety hazard introduced by Boston Volkswagen and ignored by Volkswagen Group of America. The dealership delivered a 2023 Volkswagen Arteon with an incorrect, non-factory wheel offset and tire configuration that dramatically alters the engineered suspension geometry, creating a high risk of tire contact against suspension struts and brake lines. Due to widespread public records of consumer deceit at this location, I have not contacted Boston Volkswagen directly. I escalated this vehicle safety concern directly t…

The contact owns a 2019 Volkswagen Arteon equipped with Continental tires, Tire line: ProContact TX, Tire Size: 245/35/R20, DOT number: (N/A). The contact stated that on several occasions at different intervals while driving at various speeds, the driver’s and passenger’s side front and rear tires experienced blowouts. After each blowout, the spare tire was placed on the vehicle. The vehicle was then driven to a tire repair facility and the tire was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The approxima…

Several of the tires showing delamination according to the dealership. Extremely hazardous to drive on tires as is. Manufacturer (Continental) advised me on 9/25/2025 they would replace 5 tires (car purchased new, came with full size spare). Continental representative give me their contact information and stated that they would have to deal directly with the dealership in order to complete the process. Dealership is stating to me at this point I will have to purchase the tires, the manufacturer will reimburse used them and they in turn will re…

Was switching out the "summer" tires for winter tires and noticed a bubble on the sidewall of the passenger front tire. At the time the car had around 3,000 miles on it. I switched to my spare tire, did not put the bubbled tire back on the car. I had traveled who knows how many miles with that tire like that. If I would have had a blow out, which would have happened at some point it would have been dangerous for me and any vehicle around me. It would have also destroyed a $700 rim, which I would have had to pay for. I replaced all 5 tires…

Volkswagen has issued an interim safety recall for certain VW vehicles. We believe this also incorporates VW Arteon. The Passenger Occupant Detection System (PODS) detects a malfunction, switches off the passenger airbag, displays an Airbag error and renders the passenger seat inoperable due to increased risk of injury. I’m alerted by the illumination of the airbag warning light, an acoustic warning sound, an error message displayed on the instrument cluster. I’ve been to 2 Volkswagen Dealerships, they report this is a common concern noted…

On my driver's screen, an error message popped up that read "SOS, ERROR: Emergency call function. Service vehicle!" I took my car to the dealership. This was in November of 2023. They were able to remove the error message but the module itself was broken and the SOS feature was not working and would need to be replaced. This module also affects the ability to talk hands-free. This module has been on back-order for nearly a year. It is illegal in most states to use your phone w/ your hands, but more importantly, I was sold a car with t…

The infotainment system begins to lag after being connect for >30 minutes. The touch screen stops responding to immediate inputs and takes up to 15 seconds to respond. Soon after, the screen will go black and not display any information when connected to CarPlay. Controls become very slow to respond and the map colors and images becomes scrambled making the driver spend a much longer period of time trying to navigate safely. To correct the issue, the vehicle must be turned off.

Constant travel assistance issue warning light during driving, and randomly turning on/off or turning the wheel, going over bumps. The warning lights flash on and off, sometimes multiple times a second, sounding a loud beeping each time. It is triggered at engine start and persists through all speeds. I have experienced it 0-70 mph. The flashing lights and associated rapid beeping indicating the failure is extremely distracting while driving. Warning lights and warning sounds are designed to alert the driver to a potential safety issue so ignoring the lights and sounds is dangerous in the event it is a different caution/warning. However, also not ignoring it is dangerous b…

I was driving on city streets at normal speed during a rainy day. I turned right from one road to another road, and as I started to accelerate out of the right turn, my driver side front tire blew out and the TPMS started screaming because it read the tire pressure as 0. I immediately pulled over and checked the tire and saw a huge gash on the side wall, close to the rim. The road I was on was not pristine or super smooth, but it did NOT have any large bumps or potholes and I wasn't going that fast to begin with. I have only had this car for …

I need a switch that goes in the steering column. This switch controls auto start/stop, cruise control, lane keeping assist, front pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control and much more. This switch is currently not available and has been unavailable for purchase for well over a month. I feel that I am not driving a safe vehicle and that because my vehicle was low volume car there is very little concern from VW to get this part produced.

After the vehicle has been sitting for some time, it will repeatedly beep and display “travel assist not available” with a warning triangle. It seems to be steering wheel related. It does not do it sitting still, only while moving. This happens every morning for the first few minutes of driving - often for several miles, and is getting worse. Today, it happened over 10 times within a 1 mile drive. Started as rare and sporadic happenings about two months ago, now is nearly every time I start up and drive the car.

Tire is 245/35 R 20. Tire sidewall blew out on a small bump/pothole at less than 15mph, losing all pressure and forcing to be towed. These are OEM tires with less than 2500 miles on them. Model is on backorder, so all new tires for vehicle had to be replaced. These tires are a known issue for the VW Arteon and customers are forced to pay for replacements at significant cost to "upgrade" to safer more well-built tires.
