The Hill Start Assist is overly aggressive in these cars. It doesn't release for 3 seconds after foot brake is not applied. Once it stalls the car and your panicked. Then you apply foot brake to restart the car you get to wait another 3 seconds or you stall again. It is inconsistent in pressure applied and dangerous. I have been driving manual transmission vehicles for near 40 years. Perhaps if I lived in San Francisco it might be of use but, with this activating at the slightest grade it is dangerous! Look around the VW forums I'm not the only…

Owner report 11724525 · 2026-03-16 (March 16, 2026)

While driving at approximately 20mph, the front passenger-side steering knuckle suffered a catastrophic structural failure, snapping completely in two. This resulted in an immediate loss of steering and suspension control. Inspection of the fractured part by a mechanic revealed significant orange oxidation (rust) inside the metal cross-section of the break. This internal corrosion on a 2-year-old vehicle indicates a manufacturing defect (casting porosity or inclusion) that allowed the part to weaken and fail prematurely under normal road stress…

1.It's not stable to drive in highway. Problem starts at around 55mph. 2. When I stop in traffic light suddenly rpm goes up and car jumps forward. It happened several times. The car was warm and in drive mode. I'm sure it shouldn't do this. Now when I stop in traffic light and pedestrian crossing in front of me, every time I put it to neutral and hold brake, in other ways just holding brake sometimes can not stop the car. I would like to report a safety issue with my wife’s new 2023 VW Jetta sedan with standard transmission. It has a hill hold feature that clamps the brakes on for approximately three seconds after you remove your foot from the brake pedal, if you are on a hill. Three seconds is way too long and often causes the following: you see an opening to pull into traffic, move your foot to the accelerator and start letting the clutch out. The car stalls, leaving you in the middle of the road with the electronic parking brake now applied where it was not b…

After approximately 30 to 40 minutes of driving, my 2024 Volkswagen Jetta intermittently fails to move after coming to a complete stop. When I press the accelerator, the engine RPMs rise, but the vehicle does not move. The vehicle is in its normal driving mode when this occurs. This has happened while I was attempting to accelerate into moving traffic, leaving my vehicle stopped in the path of approaching vehicles and creating a serious collision risk. There were no warning lights or messages before the failure. In August 2026, an authorized …

When driving using cruise control, the vehicle will alarm if the driver is not holding the steering. If the driver does not take control of the steering wheel, a secondary alarm will alert the driver on the dashboard to take over steering. If the driver does not take over steering, the vehicle will aggressively pulse the brakes to alert the driver. In this vehicle, the alarm may trigger when holding the steering wheel from the side or bottom, and it generally occurs on straight or minimally curving highways. If music is turned loud, it is d…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

I just got this 2024 Jetta Sport 6 speed manual and tried getting up the drive that's slightly inclined and the brake assist would not disengage or the fuel was cut after it didn't progress then dies. It is possible to power through the brake assist but it will cause premature wear on the clutch, flywheel as well as the rear E brake with all this wireless tech on the brakes, throttle can't figure it out so take it back.

My 2024 Jetta with only 14,776 miles had rear brakes and rotors that were unsafe and worn out. They had to be replaced to avoid the possibility of brake failure and an accident. I paid $453.34 out of pocket. VW knows there is a defect with the rear brakes on this generation Jettas wearing out prematurely. They are covering these parts under only certain VIN and production dates but they admit ALL JETTAS ARE SUBJECT TO THIS WEARING OUT OF BRAKES BEGINNING WIITH THE 2022 MODEL YEAR.

The Hill Start Assist is overly aggressive in these cars. It doesn't release for 3 seconds after foot brake is not applied. Once it stalls the car and your panicked.
