My Volvo was left in the garage for three weeks while on vacation, came back and the sunroof was cracked. The dealer inspected the car, but claim the sunroof was hit (which is not true). There is no evidence that the sunroof was hit.

The car just received the latest Volvo over air software update - v3.7. The car has twice had the driver's display screen lose its ability to display the map between the speedometer and the tach (map image pixiilates and display goes white) and then the entire display goes blank. When this failure mode is active, I have had to use Google maps or Waze on my cellphone to determine my actual speed. The driver's display screen does eventually reboot.

On July 13, 2025, as I was entering a small parking lot, my car suddenly accelerated on its own and crashed through a metal gate at the far end of the lot and then hit a large docked tourist boat. I had just turned right into the parking lot and was going approximately 5-6 miles per hour. I had not yet started to turn the wheel to park as the two available spaces were about midway in the lot. The car suddenly and unexpectedly accelerated. I had no time to react. The car was totaled. The airbags deployed. It was caused by faulty acceleration. Th…

On 8/22 while driving on a city road in extreme rainy conditions the vehicle in front of me drove through standing water, which created significant spray. As a result the City Safety feature of my Volvo S90 engaged in an extreme fashion. Without any risk of an impending collision the City Safety feature determined the water spray to be an obstacle and fully engaged the brakes (ABS event) to avoid the impending collision including engaging seat-belt pre-tensioning. I was lucky as the drive behind me was paying attention and swerved to avoid rear…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
