BOUGHT USED 2013 ZERO DS. BIKE WOULD EMIT NOISE WHILE COMING TO A STOP THAT SOUNDED LIKE RUBBING METAL BUT COULD NOT DETERMINE SOURCE. NOW I'M PRETTY SURE IT WAS THE FORKS. WAS ADJUSTING SUSPENSION AND DISCOVERED FORK OIL LEAKING OUT OF LEFT FORK AT THE BOTTOM AFTER SHORT RIDE. FORTUNATELY, ABLE TO CLEAN UP OIL BEFORE IT GOT ON FRONT ROTOR. LEAKED A TEASPOON AMOUNT IN A SHORT TIME. DISCOVERED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH WEB SEARCH, THAT COULD LEAD TO FORK BECOMING LOOSE (SEE YOUTUBE VIDEO IN FIRST LINK). A FEW MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT THE BIKE, I HAD NOTICED A THAT IT WOULD RUN A LITTLE ROUGH FOR A WHILE. THE PROBLEM WOULD AUTO CORRECT AFTER THE NEXT RIDE SO I DIDN'T GET TOO CONCERNED ABOUT IT. HOWEVER AFTER DAYS WOULD GO I EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. THE SYSTEM WOULD KICK BACK TO NORMAL AFTER PHYSICALLY TURNING THE KEY TO THE OFF POSITION AND RESTARTING AFTER A FEW MINUTES . NO WARNING AS TO WHEN THIS WOULD OCCUR. UP HILL, DOWN HILL, AT THE START OF MY RIDE OR AT THE END OF IT. FAST OR SLOW. IT DID NOT MATTER. I TOOK IN TO THE …

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
