There is apparently a known issue on the WT "Work Truck" trim of the Silverado EV trucks where the factory wiring harness was assembled incorrectly. This prevents the truck from knowing when the rear doors are open vs closed. If only one (or even both) rear doors are open, all the doors may automatically lock (depending on auto-locking settings), potentially locking the driver out of the vehicle. As a first responder I immediately recognize this as a significant child safety issue: if a parent were to get out to check on their child in the back…
The front trunk latch mechanism repeatedly fails. When this occurs, the vehicle believes the trunk is open and will not let you drive in normal mode. It forces you to proceed in limp mode which is dangerous. The 12v battery has to be reset to have the sensor redetect the close latch. Reports from multiple forum sources show this to be a widespread problem and currently dealer are replacing with the same mechanism and the problems reoccur.
On multiple occasion parking sensors activate for no reason. Emergency braking occurred while backing as well as while driving for no reason at all. High possibility of a crash occurring. Gm refuses to repair or replace. Gm stated dealer says vehicle has completed repairs and vehicle ready for pickup. Dealer has not repaired or replaced any items or parts.
Under heavy acceleration the vehicle swerves from lane to lane and the operator is unable to counter the steering. The behavior continues until the acceleration is halted. The vehicle was grounded due to it being deemed unsafe by the originating dealership technician and repairs were attempted but were unsuccessful. The dealership had another vehicle like mine in inventory so they tested that one and found the same erratic behavior but rather than deeming it to be a problem they declared the steering issue it to be normal for that model. This i…

Vehicle does not indicate when rear doors are ajar or not properly latched. Vehicle information center shows when front doors or frunk is open. Results are either door swinging open when not properly latched or in my case, as the vehicle does not know that the doors are open, immediately locking the vehicle with the fob in my bag on the rear seat. I disabled the walk away locking feature for now as I only have 30 days of remote services with the vehicle to unlock vehicle from my phone. Vehicle is currently at Chevy dealer for troubleshooting.…
While driving, the infotainment display went blank except for hvac display and became unresponsive. Within two minutes the instrument panel froze. Speed no longer updated. Turn signals no longer worked. Vehicle could not be powered off. Drive, reverse and park shifting worked. Camera displayed when shifted in reverse. System reset after plugging into charging station for a few minutes. Occurred multiple times over the last two weeks.
NHTSA SAFETY COMPLAINT – HIGH-VOLTAGE BATTERY FAULT & LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL Vehicle: chevy Silverado EV LT Mileage at most recent incident: ~5,400+ miles Incident date: December 17, 2025 Description of the Problem This is the third occurrence of a high-voltage battery fault warning, and the second time involving active vehicle malfunction while driving. • First occurrence: ~700 miles then at 1040 miles • High-voltage battery warning displayed • Vehicle taken to dealer and returned the same day • No noticeable d…
The rear passenger door sensors are not working on my vehicle as delivered from the factory/dealer. Upon opening the rear doors, there is no indication on the instrument panel/dome illumination as is present for the front passenger doors. With 4 independent doors it would appear to be a possible safety concern as the rear doors could unknowingly be open while driving. This issue has been discussed by several Silverado EV WT owners at the forum (linked below) and at least one dealer has diagnosed the issue as a missing ground wire on the do…

Observation: "While operating the vehicle in Reverse (R) with the One-Pedal Driving (OPD) mode enabled, the expected aggressive regenerative braking deceleration is disabled or significantly reduced compared to when driving forward in Drive (D). Safety Concern: "This creates an unexpected driving experience where the car continues to coast/accelerate without input when the accelerator is released, requiring the driver to use the traditional friction brake pedal to stop the vehicle. This goes against the driver's established muscle memory and e…
What component failed: The “regen on demand” switch broke while using it. Safety: This incident put me, the occupants of my vehicle (my children), and the vehicles around me at risk. Reproduction: There was no need. It is exceptional obvious that the switch is broken and has failed. Inspection: The truck and broken switch were observed by the dealership that services the truck. Warnings: There were no precursors to the failure. Narrative: On Thursday, 7/16/26, I was driving my 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV. I normally drive in “…
The Passenger Side door mirror is manufactured with flat glass and Not Convex glass. The flat glass field of view is not nearly wide enough for this large truck. This flat glass combined with the width of the truck (distance from the driver's head/eyes to the passenger door mirror), height and length of the truck creates a substantial risk for an accident while traveling on the roadway, highway or even maneuvering while parking. It is impossible to adjust the flat glass mirror to indicate a smaller car to the right side of this truck, and at…
2026 Silverado TrailBoss EV Windshield has laminate issues causing waves, distortion, and clarity issues. On several occasions this has caused vertigo/motion sickness while driving on the freeway. Vehicle was taken to Chevy dealership on 4/23 this issue has been confirmed and replacement parts on order. Under bumper to bumper warranty.
When the rear doors are opened on the truck, the interior lights do not come on which is a hassle when securing an infant in a car seat. Further to this, the door ajar symbol on the dash does not come on for either rear door, it does come on for the front doors. I talked to GM about this and they said that since it's a WT model with the base lighting there are no rear door lights or sensors. I found another person with the same model truck where there dealer found the same problem but fixed it.
There are two systems that are a hazard and dangerous on the Silverado EV. The First one is the Automatic High Beams. The Auto high beams will continuously flash other drivers on the road. This can blind other drivers and possibly case a crash. The other Dangerous safety feature on the vehicle is the Automatic Emergency Braking. The AEB feature when crawling behind another vehicle in bumber to bumper traffic will randomly just slam on the brakes unnecessarily which could cause a rear end collision. When this happens, There is no need for emerge…

While driving on Interstate 95 in Boynton Beach, Florida at highway speed, the vehicle began stuttering and then lost power brake assist. The instrument cluster displayed Service ESC followed by Brake assist failure, press hard to brake, speed limited. The red BRAKE telltale and the amber ABS telltale illuminated at the same time. The brake pedal became extremely loose and the vehicle did not decelerate as expected when I applied the brakes. The vehicle also derated itself to a 40 mph speed limit while I was still in highway traffic, which crea…
While in traffic over 45 miles per hour, the vehicle placed itself into a hazard mode due to the electric vehicle propulsion system. This happened so fast and the deceleration rate was so quick that it risked a rear end collision. This is the second time this has happened and both were following a heavy rain storm. I drove through a modest puddle that did not even submerge half of the tire wall making contact with the road and did so slowly. Less than five miles later, the vehicle goes into what my service advisor calls "limp mode." I have …
The vehicle experienced repeated high-voltage system warnings and battery conditioning system failures. On multiple occasions the “Service High Voltage System” message appeared along with codes P0530 and P1C26 related to the lithium-ion battery conditioning system that controls heating and cooling of the high-voltage battery pack. A critical U3578 code triggered an urgent OnStar alert requiring immediate service. The high-voltage fault was linked to an overcharged HVAC system that caused the A/C compressor to fail. This led to a full HVAC syste…

Rear door sensors do not work. No dash light or dome light to indicate if a door is open or adjar. If a child is in the back seat doors could be left open and the driver would not know.
Vehicle fails to determine if either passenger or driver rear doors are open. The vehicle is missing some functionality where the door can be opened and vehicle can be driven. My child can open the door and there will be no warning about the door being open. The interior lights do not come on when any of rear doors are open.
The rear door sensors do not function, doors are always indicated as being closed, even if they are open. The car gives no warning if door open and vehicle put into drive. Also with walk away lock the vehicle can lock while rear door is in the open state resulting in accidentally locking a occupant in the vehicle. The walk away locked engaged while I was at the rear of the vehicle unloading my dog from the back seats. Others have reported the issue in this forum [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.…

I am 6'2" tall. The shoulder straps on both the drivers and passenger side do not adjust up far enough to protect me in the event of a crash. The straps slip down below my shoulder. This is due to the fact that the WT model does not have power seats, so I am unable to lower my seating position to a safe level. If the seat could be lowered, the shoulder straps would sit properly above my shoulder. In the event of a crash the shoulder strap will be totally useless.
Frunk compartment of Silverado ev won’t close and puts the car in “limp” mode. Dealership has replaced it twice. Still happens making the car not drive able and unsafe. Multiple people have had this issue and needs to be addressed please
The backup camera stopped working around July 1. I took the vehicle to the dealer and the dealer could not fix the problem. The dealer says GM is aware that some vehicles have their backup camera stop working and is working on a software fix. Backup cameras have been a required safety item on all cars sold in the US since 2018. An inoperable camera thus is a safety risk. There are no warning lights or other messages.

On 1/20/26, we purchased a ‘24 Chevy Silverado EV from a Chevrolet dealership. 2 days later, on 1/22/26, while my husband was driving on the interstate, the tonneau cover partially detached and flew backwards lifting upwards and flapping violently. One of the metal crossbars detached completely from the tonneau cover and flew off the truck, and a second crossbar began to tear away. The cover was flapping forcefully which created a highly unstable and dangerous condition. My husband pulled over on the side of the interstate to remove the tonnea…
When charging my Silverado EV at Level 3 DC Fast chargers it is not charging at the same Voltage / Power as it has been in the past at the same stations (roughly half the power). I have taken it to the service center for diagnostics but they were unable to isolate the component that caused this problem, only reproduce the problem. Further details below. The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle in sub-zero temperatures, the HVAC unit failed to blow hot air through the vents. During the failur,e the contact was unable to defrost the windows. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who determined that the heater control module was inoperable and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the heater control module part was on a national back order and currently not available. The manufacturer was n…
I own a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV WT equipped with the OEM soft tonneau cover. The original cover and its warranty replacement have both failed in the same way. The cover material appears to shrink over time so that the side flaps will no longer reach and stay attached to the Velcro along the bed rails. At highway speeds the cover flaps and “balloons” upward, and the Velcro strips will not stay connected even when properly installed and tightened. The dealer has already replaced the cover once under warranty, but the replacement has the same …
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
No selected model years have a complete observation window. Choose an eligible year or a shorter window.
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.

There is apparently a known issue on the WT "Work Truck" trim of the Silverado EV trucks where the factory wiring harness was assembled incorrectly. This prevents the truck from knowing when the rear doors are open vs closed.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - The Level 3 DC high voltage charging is not charging at the same voltage as a comparable S…
