Loud booming sound followed by loud crackling coming from speakers. Thought I was in an accident and slammed on the brakes. No one was behind me, but if there was, the person may not have been able to stop. Happened yesterday 10/2/2022 at Huber farms in Indiana at slow speed. Also happened on 9/12/2022 when stopped. Went to Bloomington Indiana community ford while it was still crackling. A service department staff came and did something and the crackling finally stopped. Tried turning the car off and on several times, tried turning the radio off, tried switching to Serius xm radio, nothing would make it stop and it was completely unsafe to drive it like that. It was too loud to hear anything else over it and it was so jarring. I now have a headache and i’m nervous to drive it for fear of it happening again. We started to notice some body issues -rear side fenders popping out, the front grill popping out,, the inside screen would go blank, fuel tank lid pops open. As if this was not enough - we then encountered more issues - sunroof was falling on our heads, the step up railing is falling apart....WAIT- there's more - paint coming off the hood...And to top it all off - there is a cracking noise thru the inside. We cannot control the noise. We lose all function and use of controls (radio, climate, etc.).

General: While driving this rental vehicle over the span of three days, I noticed and confirmed over a dozen times that the vehicle's speed control would dramatically increase with NO driver input or actions. Specific: The vehicle's cruise control would be on and active, set at various speeds; 55, 60, 65, 70, 75 (long, straight road with varying speed limits). While driving with cruise control set at 65mph the vehicle will maintain set speed for a undetermined amount of time at which point the vehicle cruise will jump to a very high setting of 88mph....forcing me to shut the system down...this happens frequently and I can't determine what sets it off. Ford Dealer can't find anything wrong . Also the lane assist will constantly warn of not holding the wheel or lane in fractions forcing me to shake the steering wheel to let the system know I'm holding the wheel.

While accelerating on a busy tollway, the automatic transmission got stuck in 6th gear. The car then began to slow down, and the gear display went blank. I rented the vehicle in question from Hertz. The vehicle's cruise control and vehicle acceleration system repeatedly malfunctioned over the course of several days. I would have cruise control set for 35 mph and the vehicle would automatically re-set cruise control to 55 or 65 mph. Likewise, I could have the cruise control set for 55 mph or 75 mph and it would automatically on its own re-set the cruise control to 85 mph and even, in a couple cases, 100 mph.

I am writing to formally report a significant issue with my vehicle that has resulted in damage to the roof and potential long-term integrity concerns. The liftgate spoiler is contacting the roof in freezing temperatures, which creates a hole in the roof when opening the liftgate. Upon inspection, it appears there is an insufficient margin between the liftgate spoiler and the roof area centerline. This problem is particularly concerning because a hole in the roof allows moisture to penetrate, jeopardizing the structural integrity of the roof …

Several incidents in which adaptive cruise control resets itself to 90mph when moving into a higher speed limit area- for example, cruising along at 70mph, pass a speed limit sign allowing 75mph, and suddenly the cruise control resets at 90mph. If you are not very consciously thinking about this you quickly find yourself going 90mph. It never resets at 80 or 85- always 90mph. Going 15 or 20 mph faster than thought or planned certainly grabs your attention and is a safety risk.

The vehicle stalls, when stopped in traffic. In order to restart the vehicle, the transmission must be placed in the “park” position. This happens intermittently after the vehicle has been driven for a longer distance. I have read that this is related to the fuel injection system getting overheated which causes the fuel supply to drop and basically starves the system of the necessary fuel for combustion. Ford does not have a solution for this, however, the problem continues and creates a safety hazard especially during the darker hours.

Vehicle has roughly 64,000 miles on it. As we were actively driving, vehicle suddenly lost power and completely shut off. This was a sudden stall. Vehicle would not crank back up but starter would engage. Upon scanning the trouble codes, multiple codes came up in regard to the fuel pump issue that is currently under investigation. (P008A, P00C6, P0304) This issue poses a serious risk as while actively driving, could cause an accident and should be an active recall for this year make and model.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison
