Owner report 11491070 · 2022-10-26 (October 26, 2022)

--The failure involved the vehicle steering system. Specifically the Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS) Electronic Control Unit (ECU) had failed resulting in a severe alignment mismatch between the steering wheel and the front tires. In order for the front wheels to drive in a straight line, the steering wheel would be off center by anywhere from 20 degrees to 120 degrees. This made keeping the vehicle driving in a straight line very difficult. The malfunctioning VGRS ECU is available for inspection upon request. --The above description is…

While driving up I70 in colorado I experienced a fuel smell in the cab of the vehicle. When I stopped to see what the issue was I found fuel vapors coming out of the fuel door/gas cap. I replaced the gas cap and again experienced this issue. This leads me to believe the fuel evap system does not work correctly causing excessive fuel pressure in the gas tank, leading to pressurized fuel coming up out of the Gas cap. When I applying breaks when coming to stop, hears abnormal humming noise. Sound appears to be coming from driver front seat by breaks. Every time I apply the brakes, I hear the motor actuating, and I'm so anxious and worried that the brakes might not work. The brake is a life-threatening device, so I'm very anxious. Reference vehicle has only 71000 miles, yet according to Lexus dealer the rust has covered so much that vehicle is unrepairable compared to the car value. The rust has spread to frame that caused it to be to safety issue for the occupants. The suspension and associated parts have rusted, and fluids are leaking. Lexus hid the rust information during regular maintenance at the dealership only to claim that warranties are not honored for rust specially when extended warranty is just over.

Currently, Lexus says that it is normal to make sounds and there is nothing wrong with safety, but this is not normal. And it is a brake, so it cannot be normal for safety.

My car suffered complete engine failure at 25,522 miles. Lexus claims that it is not in the VIN range of the recall. However, it is the exact same problem all other 2022-2023 LX600 are experiencing and being recalled for. Lexus is clearly minimizing the extent of the engine failure issue and my VIN is also part of the problem.

These recalls similarly involved off-center steering wheel problems related to the VGRS systems. Th…
