THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WAS REPORTED TO THE DEALER ON 09/05/2002. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN ON TWO TEST DRIVES BY THE TECHNICIAN ALONG WITH MYSELF AND MY SPOUSE. HIS DIAGNOSIS WAS , THAT THE TRANSMISSON HAS A MEMORY AND THE ERRATIC SHIFTING AND LURCHING W AS ITS WAY OF ADAPTING TO MY DRIVING STYLE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 MONACO COACH WINDSOR RV. WHILE THE MOTOR HOME WAS PARKED, A PUDDLE OF FUEL WAS DISCOVERED UNDERNEATH THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL LINE CONNECTED TO THE NUMBER THREE FUEL INJECTOR HAD CRACKED AND CAUSED FUEL TO LEAK OUT. THE FUEL LINE WAS REPLACED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000.

WHILE TRAVELING IN MY MOTOR HOME WITH A CUMMINS ISL-400 DIESEL ENGINE A HIGH PRESSURE FUEL LINE FEEDING THE COMMON RAIL INJECTOR SYSTEM CRACKED AND LEAKED FUEL THROUGHOUT THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT INCLUDING THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. WHEN REPAIRED AT THE CUMMINS SERVICE CENTER IN EL CAJON, CA, THEY SAID THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE ISL ENGINE AND THAT THERE WAS A "FIX" TO THE PROBLEM.
