Intermittent issue where the rear view backup camera does not appear on screen. I receive a message of "camera temporarily unavailable." Even when shifting to another gear then back to Reverse, the camera will still not work and the same message will appear. I believe that my 2024 polestar 2 suffered a critical failure with the parking brake/weight sensor interlock. While parked in my driveway, (on incline) I parked my vehicle, opened the door (which should also engage the parking brake) and exited my vehicle. The vehicle at this time appeared to be in park. I closed my vehicle door, walked away, and approximately 4 seconds later, my vehicle rolled in reverse to the bottom of my driveway. Backup camera regularly fails to respond in time when powering on the car. Sometimes takes numerous times to enter in and out of reverse. Sometimes the rear view backup camera reverts to overhead 360 camera view without intervention, making it difficult to see in the rear. Polestar has made updates to the software via OTA updates that have tried to address this by reducing memory use during car boot up, but it’s very clear that the head units in polestar 2s up until at least my model year MY24 are severely underpowered and unable to properly sw…

The backup camera system frequently malfunctions when in use. The image may flicker black, freeze, or delay longer than 2 seconds after switching to reverse. On some occasions the camera shows as completely unavailable. It happens nearly every day, nearly every drive. As a federally mandated safety device with very specific operating parameters I do believe this component is non-compliant and has become a persistent issue for me and other owners.

Upon putting the vehicle into reverse, the backup camera takes an insurmountably long time to engage and when it does, the image it produces frequently flashes for several seconds before stabilizing, rendering it useless - particularly with pedestrians or vehicles behind the car. Recent OTA updates have exacerbated this problem, which poses a pretty severe safety risk in a car with such limited rear visibility, and after researching the problem online, it's pretty clear that it's an endemic issue to the car and can likely be remedied through so…

The parking camera system freezes and flickers on a fresh startup on a fairly consistent basis, all you have to do is let the car go into a "sleep state" then enter the car and go in to reverse. Also, there are false positives from the parking collision system in the rear when going down a sidewalk apron, causing the emergency braking system to trigger. This has happened often enough to the point where I disable the emergency braking system on every startup.

After installing the recent software update (version 5.0.10) that was intended to fix the rear camera not appearing when shifting into reverse, my vehicle has continued to experience the same problem, now with significantly increased frequency. Nearly every day--sometimes multiple times a day--the infotainment system/center screen will fail to boot up before shifting into reverse and the camera view will not appear. The gap between starting the vehicle, the system booting up, and the camera appearing, varies every time, sometimes up to 60 secon…

Purchased a used 2024 Polestar from Kia Van Nuys, CA on 5/18/2026. The Acknowledgement Regarding Recalls form noted that "The Report indicates that the Vehicle is NOT subject to an open recall at this time. I was having difficulty with the vehicle i.e charging, Internet connection and electronic driver information feedback. I took the vehicle to the Polestar service center on June 1, 2026 and found that the previous 2 recalls for TCAM Reload and a recall on VIDA soft wear version 4.2.13 which required a total soft wear update.

Michelin primacy all season 245/45r/19 102v Both rear tires cannot support the load of an rear wheel drive electric vehicle. Both tires wore through the tread at less than 20k miles. Warranty states they are good for 45k. Had to have tires replaced before they caused serious damage to the vehicle, occupants of the vehicle, or the other drivers on the road.

Leased vehicle 7-25-24. Driver’s rear tire had ongoing slow leak beginning several months after start of lease. We filled with air and reset stored tire pressure. This would last a couple months and same tire would begin to lose some pressure again. Finally at our 20,000 mile scheduled checkup, Polestar service advised to purchase a new tire, which we did, 3/19/26. The car was delivered back to us within a couple of days. On 5/7/26, that same tire completely blew out while driving on the freeway. Was able to exit freeway without an accident, bu…

A 2024 Polestar 2 electric vehicle was purchased used from a dealership. At the time of purchase the eCall service light was illuminated. The dealership dismissed the warning light as nothing to be concerned about. The selling dealership had access to a vehicle history report showing a prior accident and performed a pre-delivery inspection before the sale, yet failed to identify or disclose the standing water, exposed wiring, or non-functioning eCall emergency system. Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

My electric system tied to the center console tablet stopped working. There was no active camera, lane assist warnings, music, maps/gps, etc. Nothing worked with no explanation. It felt very dangerous to drive without the electric safety system since this car has bad visibility. Volvo / Polestar denies that there is a problem and said they would fix it with "over the air" updates.

I would go into reverse and the camera would appear but then disappear as I’m backing up. No more blinking or telling me I am about to crash. Even 3D camera doesn’t work. Drivetrain feels very strange since last OTA update. Making weird noises when driving. Battery sounds like it’s screaming. Something is really wrong.
