Owner report 11112278 · 2018-07-18 (July 18, 2018)

AFTER A YEAR OF THE BATTERY DRAINING EVERY FEW DAYS AND MANY MONTHS IN SERVICE, A FORD SERVICE CENTER FOUND A SEVERELY RUSTED STEERING COLUMN INSIDE THE RV. THE VEHICLE WAS THEREFORE NOT GOING FULLY INTO PARK. (I AM ENTERING MARCH 1, 2018 AS THE DATE, BUT WE WERE DRIVING THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY FROM MARCH 2017-OCTOBER 2017 EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM.)

The drivers seat is 3-6 inches to the right of the steering wheel causing hard steering/handling at times (curves). No accidents involved. Our first long drive with this vehicle. The issue does not sound like a big deal but the drivability is definitely a problem. In my opinion.

When driving at 60 MPH with the windshield wipers on and the windshield wet, the windshield wipers go beyond the outer edges of the windshield and get stuck there. Our safety is put at risk because the wipers stop working. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer that sold us the vehicle and the factory service center. The vehicle and component has been inspected by the manufacturer and sales dealer service representatives. There was no warning of any kind prior to the failure.

The left front fender skirt came off while driving at highway speeds. This is a piece of exterior trim. This could create a road hazard for others, increasing the risk of a crash.

We purchased this brand new Thor, Axis from Lazydays, Tampa in January of 2022. We have only used it once since taking delivery (the slide was broken at that time). It has been in and out of the shop for months at a time for over 3 years, for various items, including the "brain" (3 times), the outside jacks, the slider, cracked windshield (while in service), severe water intrusion etc. The fact that this has been going on for so long and the response from Thor has been, "our only responsibility is to insure that you get service". No one wan…

The drivers seat is 3-6 inches to the right of the steering wheel causing hard steering/handling at times (curves). No accidents involved. Our first long drive with this vehicle. The issue does not sound like a big deal but the drivability is definitely a problem. In my opinion.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Whenever I drive the vehicle, I get a 'Service Advance Trac' error message and the cruise control / stability control system stops working, and the vehicle gets difficult to drive. This occurs in regulat conditions at highway speeds. It appears to be a very common problem that Ford has not addressed. I have not been to the dealer yet because the nearest Ford Truck center is over 100 miles away and appointments are 3 months out.
