19V633000 · Seats:Mid/Rear Assembly | Seats:Front Assembly:Recliner

Reported: 2019-08-28 (August 28, 2019)

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2020 F-150 and 2019-2020 F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty pickup trucks, and 2018-2019 Ford Explorer, 2019-2020 Expedition, and 2020 Escape vehicles equipped with driver and/or passenger's manual front seat back recliner mechanisms. Also included are certain 2020 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator vehicles equipped with rear outboard seats and manual seat back recliner mechanisms. The recliner mechanisms may be missing the third pawl required for seat back strength, resulting in a loose seat back. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 202, "Head Restraints" and 207, "Seating Systems."

Consequence: A seat back with an improperly assembled recliner mechanism may have reduced strength and may not adequately restrain an occupant in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and Ford and Lincoln dealers will inspect the seat structure and replace them, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began October 21, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19C07.

Remedy: Ford has notified owners, and dealers will inspect and tighten the rear toe link fasteners, check and adjust the rear toe alignment, and inspect the rear tires for abnormal tire wear, replacing them if necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began November 14, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S36.

I received notice through carfax of a recall due to fire hazard. Numerous attempts at getting more information through ford has resulted in little more than referral to a local dealer. The dealer has no loaners available at this time. While I was driving 65mph on the interstate with my three children in car seats in the middle row we heard a loud explosion and the front panel of the panoramic sunroof glass covered the inside of my vehicle, all of myself and my three toddlers. It was a nice sunny day. No trees or cars were around us. Shards of glass were in all of our hair, car seats, stroller and everywhere else in the car.

I have taken the Expedition to the dealer for 2 issues: 1) the truck release didn't work correctly when you unlatch. However, Finally there was an update a year later to fix it.2) The infotainment 15 inch touchscreen is not dependable 3 out of 7 days, roughly. When turning it on, it doesn't go on and you have to try to back up this monster without a camera. I nearly killed a small child walking in front of the mother as he wasn't tall enough to be seen on the side mirrors or rear view. She hit the truck for me to slam on breaks. When driving …

While driving down the road, the sunroof spontaneously exploded. The loud bang (sounded like a gun shot) and tiny pieces of glass, that luckily were caught in the sunshade, could have been disastrous for my wife and our three small children that were in the car. The glass is bowed outwards. It has been taken back to Mullinax Ford Dealership for repair. They tell me it will not be covered under any warranty. There were no warning signs before now that there could be a problem with this sunroof, we only have 5k miles on the vehicle.

While I, the driver, was parking the vehicle, there was a loud pop noise next to my ear. My seatbelt locked up in place and there was smoke coming from the seatbelt tensioner area of the car. The seatbelt will not move at all now. I just took it into the Ford dealer and they said they are unable to fix it under the recall because it is only in the advanced stages. They recommend that I wait.

On July 24th 2023, at approximately 2:15pm my wife and I were completely stopped at a red traffic light on 66th St N that crosses Ulmerton Rd in Pinellas County Florida. We were talking and listening to the radio, when all of a sudden, a loud shotgun or explosive sound filled the vehicle. I got hit with something in the chest that felt like a punch or a kick, knocking me out of breath. But my wife only heard the extremely loud noise. I was clutching my chest in pain as I thought I was shot. When the light turned green, I immediately pulled in…

2019 Ford Expedition engine rattles on cold start, while driving at highway speeds, loss of engine power, and when Auto start/stop engages, it will, at times, "catch" and turn vehicle off due to lack of engine power- it will then flash a warning message stating driver must shift to park, then restart vehicle. Cam Phaser/Cam shaft wears prematurely, thus, not allowing it to open and close valves related to the crankshaft and pistons, which in turn poses a risk to both the vehicle operator as well as drivers on the road. We bought a 2019 Ford expedition max xlt. On a trip we kept having problems with it jumping out of gear and it felt like the transmission was going to fall out. We looked it up and found several complaints on this same problem with the 2019 models although I can't find any recalls that would have fixed the problem.

Since we bought our car, it has had a rattle upon startup. This was originally a recall, which we got repaired, but this repair did not make the rattle go away. I then had a transmission problem and had to have the transmission overhauled due to it having violent, jerky, unpredictable shifting between gears. When I mentioned the rattle again while they were fixing the transmission, they said that it’s a known problem with Ford cam phasers around our model year. Our vehicle cannot shift into gear. This results in it jolting, and almost stopping while we are driving. The is a huge safety issue on roads and especially highways. The check engine light is on. We have taken it multiple times to mechanics and have been told this is a transmission issue. However, we were disappointed to hear that the recalled parts aren't even made and will not be available until late 2027. This car has 3 recalls …
