THE CAR RANDOMLY DOES NOT TURN ON WHEN I PRESS THE START BUTTON. NOTHING HAPPENS. IT'S NOT THE KEY FOB EITHER BECAUSE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WORKS IN THE CAR AT THAT POINT. I CAN'T OPEN THE TRUNK USING THE BUTTON INSIDE THE CAR, LOCK OR UNLOCK THE DOORS, NOTHING. THE CAR IS ESSENTIALLY A USELESS HUNK OF METAL. AFTER ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES THOUGH, THE CAR WILL JUST RANDOMLY TURN ON. I DON'T PRESS THE START BUTTON - IT'LL JUST TURN ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS SO FAR.

The entire instrument panel/cluster went out while driving. It did come back on after going totally black. We had no ability to see speed, fuel, or any cameras. This happened yesterday, May 13, 2025. We are trying to get an appointment at the dealership to address it. There does not appear to be any error codes recorded by the vehicle for this event, according to the app. It appears that this problem is the same as an existing recall for G80 vehicles through 2024. Genesis and NHTSA needs to add 2025 models to this recall (026G)

AC stops running during very hot days, air flow stops and heat inside the car gets dangerously high. There are multiple complaints about this in a Genesis blog, and dealers are unable to reproduce the problem to find the problem. I contacted Genesis America and they cannot do anything because service technicians are unable to diagnose the problem. Genesis MUST do something about this. My 2017 Genesis G80 3.8L, VIN [XXX], has approximately 43,840 miles and intermittently slips or shifts improperly between approximately third and fifth gears while driving and causes harsh jolts forward. This vehicle experienced an engine overheating failure while driving, five days after a cooling-system repair (radiator hoses, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs) had been completed at the dealership. The dashboard displayed an explicit "Engine has overheated" warning, and the vehicle could not continue to be driven. The vehicle was returned to the dealership. Per their own written statement, there were "no signs of engine damage related to the overheating concern" at that time. The vehicle's own mileage record shows it did not leave the dealers…

As I am driving and I make a turn, the wheel actually locks and I cannot steer. It was very frightening. At first I thought it was the lane change device, but I made sure that was off, and it happened twice more. I had the car towed to the Napleton Hyundai dealership in Lake park, FL and they said the entire steering column needs to be replaced. They quoted over $10,000 for the repair. THe car is a 2017 Genesis G80 with 23,000 original miles. THere were no warning lamps or other symptoms.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
