THE UNIT HAS BEEN FALLING APART SINCE WE PURCHASED IT. THE MAIN ISSUES ARE WITH THE COACH PORTION. BROKEN CABINETS, PLUMBING LEAKS, ELECTRICAL ISSUES, BUT THE COACH HAS A LIST WHICH GROWS WITH EVERY USE. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BUILT A POOR PRODUCT AND THE DEALER HAS HAD LITTLE OR NO EFFECT IN CORRECTING THE ISSUES. IT TAKES MANY MONTHS OF WAITING FOR A PHONE CALL TO HEAR OF ORDERED PARTS OR BACK ORDERED PARTS ONLY TO FINALLY SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICE. Recall history

3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

04V088000 · Tires

Reported: 2004-02-18 (February 18, 2004)

CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 110, "TIRE SELECTION AND RIMS." THE FEDERAL IDENTIFICATION TAG IS INCORRECT. THE TAG STATES THE RIM SIZE IS 22.5X6.75G RANGE. THE CORRECT RIM SIZE IS 22.5X7.5F RANGE.

Consequence: AN INCORRECT RIM COULD BE PLACED ON THE VEHICLE WHICH COULD RESULT IN A TIRE BLOWOUT INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE TAG. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MARCH 11, 2004. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT MONACO AT 1-800-685-6545.

NHTSA campaign record ↗
06V227000 · Electrical System

Reported: 2006-06-23 (June 23, 2006)

CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES BUILT ON WORKHORSE CHASSIS AND EQUIPPED WITH ACTIA CORPORATE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 101, 'CONTROLS AND DISPLAYS,' AND NO. 105, 'HYDRAULIC AND ELECTRIC BRAKE SYSTEMS.' IF THE BRAKE FAIL INPUT FALLS BELOW A VOLTAGE OF 1.5V, THE BRAKE FAILURE LAMP AND ALARM WILL BE ACTIVATED. ALSO ACTIVATION OF THE ABS TELLTALE WHEN THE ABS IS NOT PROPERLY FUNCTIONING DOES NOT ALWAYS OCCUR.

Consequence: AT NIGHT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTS MAY FAIL AND THE DRIVER MAY NOT BE ABLE TO SEE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES AND THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT INDICATOR WHICH COULD INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: WORKHORSE IS CONDUCTING THIS RECALL (PLEASE SEE 04V195000) AND WILL REPROGRAM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER FREE OF CHARGE. OWNERS MAY CONTACT WORKHORSE AT 1-877-246-7731 OR MONACO AT 1-800-685-6545.

NHTSA campaign record ↗
06V361000 · Engine And Engine Cooling

Reported: 2006-09-19 (September 19, 2006)

ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES BUILT ON WORKHORSE CHASSIS AND EQUIPPED WITH GM 8.1L V8 ENGINES, IMPROPER HARDENING DURING THE HEAT TREATMENT PROCESS CAN CAUSE THE FUEL RAIL PULSE DAMPER RETAINER CLIP TO FRACTURE, RESULTING IN INADEQUATE RETENTION OF THE DAMPER. IF THE DAMPER BECOMES LOOSE, FUEL COULD BE PUMPED BY THE FUEL PUMP INTO THE UNDER HOOD AREA.

Consequence: IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, A FIRE COULD RESULT.

Remedy: WORKHORSE IS HANDLING THE OWNER NOTIFICATION AND REMEDY FOR THIS CAMPAIGN (PLEASE SEE 06V225). DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL RAIL PULSE DAMPER RETAINER CLIPS ON THESE ENGINES FREE OF CHARGE. OWNERS MAY CONTACT WORKHORSE AT 877-294-6773 OR MONACO AT 1-800-685-6545.

This vehicle is equipped with a chassis/suspension and drive train that makes it extremely difficult to control on the road. The vehicle wags when a vehicle passes it and it also has excessive movement when caught in a crosswind. The vehicle is rated to pull up to 8000lbs. I was pulling a Jeep Grand Cherokee that weighs about 5000lbs. If the Jeep moved right the Vacationer would jump left and when the Jeep went left the Vacationer would go right. This combination of the Vacationer movement with or without the Jeep requires excessive vigilan…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.

EACH TIME WE SPEAK WITH A COLTON RV REPRESENTATIVE, OUR SITUATION IS NEW TO THEM,…
