Recall history

4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

24V461000 · Air Bags:Side/Window:Curtain

Reported: 2024-06-20 (June 20, 2024)

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander, Grand Highlander Hybrid, Lexus TX350, TX500 Hybrid, and TX550 Hybrid+ vehicles. The driver and passenger side curtain air bags may not unroll as intended and could partially deploy outside of an open window. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."

Consequence: An improper deployment of the side curtain air bag can reduce occupant protection during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the driver and passenger curtain shield air bag assemblies, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed November 4, 2024. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 24TB09/24TA09 and Lexus' numbers are 24LB05/24LA05.

Reported: 2025-09-11 (September 11, 2025)

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Toyota Venza, 2023-2025 RAV4 Prime, RAV4, Highlander, GR Corolla, Crown, 2024-2025 Lexus TX, LS, Toyota Tacoma, Grand Highlander, and 2025 Lexus RX, Toyota Crown Signia, Camry, RAV 4 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), and 4 Runner vehicles. Due to an error in the instrument panel software at vehicle startup, the instrument panel may fail to display vehicle speed, brake system, and tire pressure warning lights.

Consequence: An instrument panel display that does not show critical information can increase the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy: Dealers will update the instrument panel software over-the-air (OTA) for non-PHEV vehicles, free of charge. For PHEV vehicles, dealers will inspect the instrument panel assembly, and either replace it, or update the software, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed December 5, 2025. Additional letters will be sent, anticipated in May 2026. This is a phased recall. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Starting from a stop in a residential neighborhood, stepped on the gas to go and turn left and the vehicle hesitated and lacked power. It almost felt like it was trying to start from a stop in too high of a gear, but this is a 6 speed automatic vehicle. The AC stopped working and now they are charging me to replace the condenser which is located right in the front behind the grill. They said it was damaged from a rock that hit it. There are thousands of these vehicles that have this poor design where all these condensers are getting hit and having consumers pay for this damage because it is not under warranty. These should be recalled or repaired for free as it is obvious there should be some kind of screen to prevent this as the grill gives no protection.

If I remove the cover I see that a plastic attachment linking the spare wheel well to both sides of the trunk is bent. Lexus says that to replace it I need to replace the whole unit and it's also not covered by warrantee.

I am filing this complaint regarding my 2024 Lexus TX. A road rock/debris entered through the vehicle’s factory front grille and struck/punctured the A/C condenser, causing the air conditioning system to stop functioning properly. Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

No selected model years have a complete observation window. Choose an eligible year or a shorter window.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
