ELECTRONIC DIAL SHIFTER WILL AUTOMATICALLY SWITCH FROM DRIVE TO PARK IF THE VEHICLE START STOP BUTTON IS DEPRESSED WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING. THE PARKING BRAKE ALSO AUTOMATICALLY SWITCHES ON AT THE SAME TIME. CONSIDER WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF A 2018 FORD EXPEDITION IS TRAVELING ON A FREEWAY IN TRAFFIC AND THE START STOP BUTTON WERE ACCIDENTALLY DEPRESSED. THE CAR WOULD SHIFT INTO PARK, THE PARKING BRAKE WOULD ENGAGE AND THE DRIVER WOULD DECELERATE RAPIDLY FROM 65 MPH TO A STOP WITH NO NOTICE, LIKELY BEING REAR ENDED BY TRAFFIC IE; A SEMI TRUCK AT HIG…

VEHICLE AS DELIVERED NEW FROM THE FACTORY HAD A VERY LOUD AND DISTINCT CLUNKING IN THE REAR SUSPENSION WHEN DRIVING. IT CLUNKS REPEATEDLY WITH EACH DOWNSHIFT OF THE 10 SPEED TRANSMISSION AND ONCE VERY HARD UPON ACCELERATION. IT WAS LATER DETERMINED THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL RETAINER BUSHING HAD BEEN LEFT LOOSE AND NOT FULLY INSTALLED, ALLOWING THE WHOLE REAR SUSPENSION SYSTEM TO ROTATE WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED. THIS RESULTED IN PREMATURE TIRE WEAR AND APPARENT FLUID LOSS IN THE SHOCK ABSORBERS. THE END RESULT IS A VEHICLE THAT HAS A …

TODAY I EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE BRAKES ON MY 2018 FORD EXPEDITION EL. THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT BUILD ANY PRESSURE WHICH ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. TO ANSWER THE SPECIFICS REQUESTED BY NHTSA, THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN AT 45MPH OR LESS ON A CITY STREET AND THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED. THE ONLY WAY TO BUILD BRAKE PRESSURE WAS TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND PUMP THE PEDAL. THIS VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 6 MONTHS OLD AND FOR HOW MUCH FORD CHARGES FOR A LIMITED EDITION EXPEDITION …

The transmission would slip and not go into gear. Causing me to stall in the middle of intersections. This occurred multiple times and if I took my foot off the gas it woudl catch and I could go again. Dealership told me it could be PCM issue and was not able to see me until December of 2021. At the end of October it suddenly became almost undriveable and was limped to dealership. It was determined that the gear ratio for the 3rd gear was incorrect and at 67,318 miles and 4 years old it needs a new transmission.

RECENTLY I RENTED A FORD EXPEDITION. MUCH OF THE DRIVING WAS IN AN AROUND THE MOUNTAINS SURROUNDING YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK. WHILE I FOUND THE VEHICLE EASY TO DRIVE THERE IS ONE GLARING SAFETY ISSUE CONCERNING THE ABILITY TO DOWNSHIFT. ONE MUST TAKE THEIR EYES OFF THE ROAD TO LOCATE THE + OR - BUTTONS ON THE CENTER CONSOLE TO CHANGE GEARS. THESE BUTTONS SHOULD BE LOCATED ON THE STEERING WHEEL. NOT ON THE CENTER CONSOLE.

I rented the vehicle in question from Hertz. The vehicle's cruise control and vehicle acceleration system repeatedly malfunctioned over the course of several days. I would have cruise control set for 35 mph and the vehicle would automatically re-set cruise control to 55 or 65 mph. The glass is bowed outwards. It has been taken back to Mullinax Ford Dealership for repair. They tell me it will not be covered under any warranty. There were no warning signs before now that there could be a problem with this sunroof, we only have 5k miles on the vehicle.

If I have to decelerate and then quickly accelerate the car will lose power and restart. This typically happens when I’m driving on the highway in heavy traffic. I originally thought there was problem with the transmission because it would downshift to 5th gear and clunk (feels like the tranny fell off). It would then try and put itself into park and then power down and restart. The only error code ever given is a parking paw error. This makes sense because transmissions aren’t supposed to go into park at 70mph. Lately the vehicle is slug…

I am submitting this complaint regarding potential safety issues with my 2018 Ford Expedition Max Platinum. I purchased the vehicle from Sandy Sansing Chevrolet in Pensacola, Florida, and discovered several problems shortly after purchase that I believe may affect the vehicle's safe operation. Within days of purchasing the vehicle, it began displaying an intermittent **low oil pressure warning** while driving. Because a low oil pressure condition can lead to engine damage, loss of power, or engine failure, I believe this presents a potential s…

No Brakes, Engine Racing, & ignition would not turn off, yes available for inspection at Seth Whatley Ford. Car crashed which was the only way it came to a stop, wheels were still turning when I got out of the car, if anyone one had been around they would have been hurt or killed. Towed to dealer, dealer was unable to find any evidence on their side. Insurance adjuster came out and assess the damage from crash. There was no warning lights or sensors that were working during this episode. Monday, March 27, 2023 at approximately 10am, I got into …

UNDER WARRANTY, MOISTURE WAS PRESENT IN ALL THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS. THE UPPER (THIRD) BRAKE LIGHT HAD THE MOST CONDENSATION. AN AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER REVIEWED THE ISSUE AND ADVISED FORD DOES NOT COVER MOISTURE WITHIN A LIGHT AS THE MOISTURE WILL DISSIPATE OVER TIME. I ADVISED THE UPPER BRAKE LIGHT WAS NEVER DRY, THEY INSISTED WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER THE ISSUE. I COULD REPLACE THE LIGHT, I RECEIVED A QUOTE AT THAT TIME. NOW THE UPPER BRAKE LIGHT HAS LESS THAN 2 LED'S WORKING AND THE VISIBILITY IS NEXT TO NOTHING. REVIEWING FORUMS, THIS IS AN IS…

THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT IS ON WHICH MAY CAUSE THE AIRBAGS NOT TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. WE HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT TO CAUSE THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD TURN ON. WE ARE TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP LATER IN THE MONTH TO FIND OUT THE EXACT CAUSE OF THIS MALFUNCTION. BUT THE POTENTIAL OF AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIR BASS FAILING TO DEPLOY IS IN THE BACK OF MY MIND. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS MATTER NOW SO IT PREVENTS ANY FUTURE FAMILIES BEING AFFECTED.

MY 2018 FORD EXPEDITION MAX 4X4 WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE ISSUE DESCRIBED IN TCB-20-2315 IN AUG 2019. THE REPAIR WAS DONE PER THE TCB AND COMPLETED IN OCT 2019. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE SHOP FOR 10 WEEKS AND I HAD TO RETURN IT 4 TIMES FOR ADDITIONAL REPAIRS UNTIL THE ISSUE WAS TEMPORARILY RESOLVED. THE PROBLEM REOCCURED IN JUL 2020 AND IT TOOK OVER 5 VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP AND INTERVENTION FROM FORD CUST SERVICE TO GET THE VEHICLE REPAIRED IN DEC 2020. I HAVE ALREADY RETURNED THE VEHICLE AGAIN THIS TIME BECAUSE THE ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED AND NOW W…

POWER TRAIN FAILURE INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON ABOUT 800 MILES INTO A ROAD TRIP. VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN ON CITY STREETS IN EXTREME STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AFTER RECENTLY EXITING THE INTERSTATE. VEHICLE STARTED DOWNSHIFTING EXTREMELY ROUGHLY, JERKING THE ENTIRE VEHICLE FORWARD AND TRANSMISSION STARTED TO OVERHEAT. VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS BEEN A LITTLE ROUGH UP SHIFTING SINCE PURCHASE BUT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME ANY INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ON. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE WE WERE TOLD TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. VEHICLE HAS 36,000 MI…

my transmission shifted from first gear to second gear very hard causing the vehicle to lunge. My daughter is a new driver and it scared her so much that she stopped in traffic at a stop sign and I thought the vehicle was hit. my dash cam even recorded it as a possible collision (no one hit us just jerked that bad). I have only owned it for a month and when I took it to the dealer that I bought it from they said Ford knows they have a problem and it sucks. (dealerships words) I had no lamps or warnings come on at the time of the event. whe…

Random gear shifts lead to dangerous changes in speed during normal driving. Example-Driving in 8th gear transmission shifted to 2nd and then jumped back to 6th gear causing near loss of control. Other times transmission sticks in-between gear resulting in a loss of power during driving. Dealer and independent service center have reproduced problem. Replaced value body per Ford's recommendation which did not fix the problem. Vehicle has not been inspected by police, insurance representative or manufacturer. Powertrain warning light did co…

Car doesn’t let me pump fuel at gas station and overfills even when the tank is empty. Gas leaks from the bottom of the car. Weird suction noise comes from the fuel filler neck. I was doing research and found that many people have this same problem with my car and there’s a recall for this but for the 2015-2016 models and not the 2017. It’s a recall on the evap system suction pump and code is 20Y6.
