Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain 2022 Bay Star motorhomes. The LED backlight circuit board in the cooktop range may fail, causing the board to overheat.

Consequence: A circuit board that overheats increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Dealers will disconnect and cut the circuit powering the LED backlights and terminate the wiring, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed by May 31, 2024. Owners may contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300. Newmar's number for this recall is 610 RSB.

I have owned the Bay Star for a month, since 9/15/2022. In that time, the “Service Advance Track” warning has come on 4 times. When this happens, the traction control, cruise control, and hill assist features do not work. They advertised these as safety features and now they are gone. Also, the info display is filled with the message above and I can’t see my trip info. It’s very frustrating at best and unsafe at the worse.

Discovered an approximately 4" long crack in the hub plate of a rear wheel. The crack goes through the serial number stamp on the wheel (possible stress riser caused by the serial number stamp?). The wheel has been taken out of service and is available for inspection. No other agency has inspected the wheel. There were no symptoms of an issue (no abnormal tire wear was noticed and no vibration or unbalance issues were noticed). The crack was seen when I was doing a periodic lug nut torque check.

19ft factory installed awning detached from RV rendering RV undriveable. Mobile repair shop manufactured parts to securely and properly reattach awning. Shop reported factory install was very substandard. Additionally shop reported they had never seen an awning arm installed crossing over a window. Detachment fortunately occurred while RV was stopped. On the road the detachment would have most likely been complete and therefore a safety issue for following vehicles.

However no ABS on a large vehicle in adverse weather is unsettling. It’s my understanding that this is a frequent issue in the new Ford F53 chassis. Many consumers have reported dealerships are unable to determine the exact cause and only have the fault(s) return. I have reported this issue to the Ford Rv assistance division along with many others. I am unsure if ford is investigating appropriately to…

On numerous occasions the dash warning light will come on stating "Service Advance Trac". When this happens traction control, hill assist & cruise control all shut off without any warning. Sometimes the ABS light illuminates also. Ford does not seem to have a fix for this problem as it has effected many newer F53 chassis. Ford tells customers to just stop for a few minutes & cycle the key. It clears it for a little while but always comes back on. No trouble codes show up when scanning with an OBD2 scanner.

Service advance trac ABS light In cross winds the system fails. Wind from either side The important stability control fails when you need it the most. ABS light is self explanatory. Called Ford and lady said she hears this issue a lot She mentioned that eventually it will disable the Rv. I’m in places where there is no phone service. Will be taking it in, but most people reported they throw parts at it and no fix.

Wheel bearings and hubs failed on both front wheels of our RV. Our current mileage is 38500. According to maintenance service is not required on the bearings until 60,000 miles. At that time bearings are to be regreased. At 150,000 miles bearings are to be replaced. The mechanic that did the repair work informed us that we were lucky the front passenger wheel didn't fall off. I understand that the Ford F53 chassis has encountered this wheel bearing issue. We have filed a complaint with Ford with pictures and detailed information of the work tha…

The brakes on the Ford chassis were damaged due to extreme heat before the unit was sold to me and have been damaged 2 additional times due to extreme heat in the first 3,500 miles. The unit was purchased new and had 1,460 miles when purchased in August 2022. Ford is attempting to repair the vehicle again and have had the unit in their possession for 9 months. We are concerned with a brake failure or fire hazard and have asked the manufacturer to repurchase the unit from us under the Texas Lemon Law.
