General Motors, LLC recall 26V612000: VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:BODY CONTROL MODULE:SOFTWARE ↗

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2025-2027 Cadillac OPTIQ vehicles. When closed using the key fob's express-up function, the front windows may fail to detect an obstruction and reverse direction. As such, these vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 118, "Power-Operated Window Systems."

Trailer maker gets IIHS nod ↗

IIHS has recognized Fruehauf’s rear underride protection with a Toughguard award. The recognition covers the company’s 53-foot enclosed freight trailers manufactured after September 30, 2026. To qualify, a rear guard must keep a midsize car from passing underneath the trailer in three rear-impact configurations, including a difficult test where only one corner of the guard takes the impact.

Two more models garner IIHS awards ↗

The latest IIHS evaluations give its highest safety award to the redesigned Kia Telluride for 2027 and Tesla Model Y for 2026–27. The Telluride’s eligibility is limited to vehicles manufactured after June 2026, when improved headlights were fitted. The awards consider crash protection, lighting and standard crash-prevention systems; the article also reports results for five other vehicles that did not qualify.
